Registed in good faith, provided checks for next 11 months in the amt. of $237.50 per month after $807. downpayment that was cashed immediatly. This law school univ. promised delivery within 2 weeks max of necessary tapes and reading material needed to start classes, that delivery took over 6 weeks and was after another check of 237.50 was cashed. I had prepared and purchased the required text & audios from on line seller, was all set to start.
Next problem was technical help from the web expert at the school, he was inept in giving simple clues how to navigate the schools program site. He also never rememebered me from one phone call to another the next day and did not keep a record of where I was in the program.
I elected to withdraw and did so according to schools policy. After paying nearly $1,100 including application fee to school I received a check in the mid $90. range, way below $100. as my complete refund. I received no reply from my continual emails to the school of demand of a fair amount to be returned as I only had 6 weeks into the university investment and had never been able to start the work. The school ignored me.
Because the school knew I would most likely stop payment on the remaining 10 post dated checks I had sent, they did return the 10 checks to me.
This school has favorable write up from students on their web site, I regard all the kudos given by so called students as bogus plants from this school.
I have studied many things on line, by mail as well as in university classrooms, never have I met such a rip off for profit bunch of liars as those devils at Northwestern California University Law School. This is a "buyer beware" school.

Very presumptive of you to take upon yourself the assumption that anyone who has had a negative rip off experience with N W Calif. Univ. School of Law is a failure. I am close to completion in another online school studying law with have a 95% GPA.
You and the entire body of people working and ripping off students at NWCU need to take the Dale Carnegie Course of How To Win Friends And Influence People. Perhaps you would not be having bad rip off reports if you did this or ever learned honesty and good manners as children. As for those of us who do not want anything to do with your so called institution, good for us who took the time to post and warn others about your program and ripoff policies.

NWCU is just fine!

Sounds like you didn't make it in law school, and this is just sour grapes. Law school is not for just anybody, and because these days people hear ads on the radio for online law schools, they think they, too, can be a lawyer. Soon, they find out it is out of their league, then they attack the school or the professors. Not everyone is equipped to become a lawyer. As for online schools, these, too, are also not for just anybody. It takes a certain kind of person to be able to successfully finish an online degree program. You have to be intelligent and very disciplined. Go find another career path for yourself- one that sizes up to your intelligence level.

Blessings in Disguise

I submitted my $25 application fee back on Dec 1 2012 and have yet to even receive an email, phone call or any acknowledgement at all what so ever. I did call and attempt to check up on my application but only received an automated response stating that applications normally take 10 - 14 days to process. Being 25 days out with still no response, I feel as if maybe they are doing me a favor.
Since then I have applied to California School of Law, paid my fees ordered my books and am ready to begin class in March. Anyone who would still even consider Northwestern should put themselves on high alert and brace for catastrophic disappointment.
Buyer Beware! There are better schools to choose from.

Defense for NWC?

It seems you are one of the hired supporters. You are just trying to attack a genuine victim.
I also have dealt with NWCU, and have found them very unreasonable and ruthless and irresponsible people. They do not even introduce themselves when picking up the phone. They say-- "It is the caller's responsibility to ask the name".
There are just tons and tons of attitude problems with this schools. Those who have gone there and somehow passed FYLS exam, it is only by their own hard work, it is in-spite-of NCWCU's outrageously bad customer service.
Those who have come out with opposing the criticism and rather supporting evidence, are nothing but "paid for" writers.

AFFORDABLE LEGAL EDUCATION

I attended a traditional ABA school for 3 semesters but could not continue due to financial difficulties. Since, my entire family resides in Los Angeles, I decided to attend NWCU instead. Law School is not easy, and you have to be disciplined in order to pass the bar exam no matter where you go to school. I have a friend who went to NYU who failed the bar exam this July, while I who attended NWCU, passed it. NWCU gives you the opportunity to seat for the bar exam, the rest is up to you.
Honestly, with your attitude I doubt you will ever pass the bar exam no matter which school you attend, because CBX requires someone who takes responsibility for their own action, rather than blame others for their own failure.

I do not work for this school, and I have no financial interest in this school. But I have been to their facility, have talked with their staff, and have observed their staff giving classroom instruction. Also, this school recommends books I have written for law students, and I have tutored many students who have attended this school.
I have also visited several other similar law schools that recommend my books or else have recommended them in the past. And I have tutored many, many law students from many schools.
Based on my experience this is a good, legitimate law school and the problems reported by this student were not the normal situation.
In addition, if you compare the track record of this school to similar law schools it has produced superior results over the past few years. The "first time" student success rate from this school was better than Concord University on 4 out of the last 5 California "Baby Bar" (FYLSX) exams, and overall the students from this school passed the FYLSX 37% of the time compared to only 25% for Concord.

NWCU is GREAT!!

I transfered from a regular law school campus to NWCU at the start of my 3rd year of law school. I was a transfer student, and NWCU was very helpful in making sure the classes I registered for were acceptable to the California State Bar. They mailed me my registeration packet within a week, and you do not need this packet to get started. Everything you need in on their website. Oscar, there IT guy, responds to me within hours every time I email him with a computer problem, and 99% of the time the problem is my computer, not the school or their site. I am now at the end of my 4th and final year. When I request help, the professors respond within a 12 hour time period. Recently I even requested a class on Admin Law - and a week later a professor responded by initiating a text chat that lasted 6 weeks on the subject, answering all my questions. Lastly, and the end of the year, my grades were promptly emailed to me, and I was registered into the next year within days. Completing law school on line is not for everyone. You have to be very independent, and willing to take motivate yourself to do the work. NWCU has been a wonderful school, and I will be proud to graduate with a degree from their institution.

Online Education Is Not Perfect
AUTHOR: Former 1997 WSU student - (United States of America)

As a former law school student at an ABA approved school, career student and special education teacher. I've taken classes in the traditional classroom, various online forums and on BlackBoard which is the system used by Northwestern California University School of Law.
Traditional law school is extremely challenging. Not just because of the curriculum but the amount of time required to succeed. Working adults can't afford to quit their jobs and head back to school. Northwestern California University School of Law provides a unique opportunity to do study law that you can't get many other places. A simple Google search will lead you to dozens of recent graduates who have advanced degrees from traditional colleges even Ivy League schools but they have J.D.s from NWCU.
Sometimes technology fails. I've had the same frustrations when taking an online class but to condemn an entire institution because you had technical difficulties is a little unfair. Your comment doesn't seem to not be related to the curriculum or teachers but the battle you had with the tech guy from Blackboard? Blackboard is a separate company from the school website. Lot's of universities use them and trust me they are not going to be much help in telling you how to navigate the universities website. It's not their job.
Good luck in your studies. $1,000 seems like a lot I know but NWCU is legit. Try enrolling at a brick and mortar law school for a year and spending $40K a year in tuition and another $2-3K or more in books, parking fees and not working. I have the student loans to prove it.

I have gone to the school for two years. In all the time I've went there, the school has been very supportive to me and helpful in helping me pass the Calif. baby bar. If you decided the school wasn't for you you had every right to quit. But the school like any other company has rules and policies. You did not mention whether you sent their materials back to them or not. If the rules say you get a refund according to a certain procedure, if you didn't meet that procedure, then how can you expect to get refunded when you used their services and had access to their materials? It's sad that if what you're saying is correct and they had less than capable tech support, that's a blackboard issue, and not the school's fault. I'm not saying that they're perfect by no means. But they're good people trying to prepare students for one of the hardest bars in the country. And let's face it, they're lawyers, so they have a certain demeanor, but all in all, I believe they have the best interest of the students in mind or they wouldn't be around since "98. Online law schools get a bad rap from all over, including the ABA, so attacks from disgruntled students doesn't help. Sorry about your experience, and good luck with your schooling in the future.
