My credit card was fradulently charged for 3 magazine subscription renewals by this NSS magazine subscription service. I NEVER received any noticed in the mail about the renewals, and I NEVER authorized the renewal charges on my credit card either. I got hit with 3 separate (unexpected) charges for 3 different mags in May, each charge within a week or two apart from one another, totalling $53.00.

I do remember initially ordering these mags, and I am fairly certain it was done over the internet since I never deal with phone telemarketers (but exactly thru where or whom on the net I am not really sure since I ordered a few subscriptions at different locations around the same time). But I really don't appreciate these underhanded sneaky tactics once they got my credit card # in their hands. The same thing happened to me last year with a book service from the internet too.

There was a 800# on my statement next to each charge, but when I called, it gave me an automated menu that led me in circles.

So based on reading some messages on this board, there was a message dated 5/19/2003, that listed another 800# saying they got in touch with a live person, the # was 1-800-799-9939 (see message at: /Sales-People/NSS-National-Subscri/nss-national-subscription-serv-EE47X.htm).

So I tried it, and viola! I got a live person instantly. I requested a credit on all the unauthorized charges to my credit card which was processed quickly & painlessly, was told I would see the credit within 72 hrs, and I jotted the person's name down. And when I asked how can I stop this from happening again, was told I would be put on a no-call list and not be charged again (for safekeeping, I am also calling my bank to see if they can block future charges from these crooks, you just never know these days).

Suggest others who are experiencing the same problem with this mag service to try the same toll free # above too.

Received my Credit

AUTHOR: Christina - (U.S.A.)

The phone number I posted above (which I read in another message) DOES work. I just came back to confirm that yes I did receive a full credit the next day on 5/29 (I checked my account online). So if you're having the same problems getting through to a live person for this company to get a credit, give it a shot too. Good luck!
