They promised to refinance my home and pay out $40,000+ cash, I never received a dollar. Now I'm almost homeless Internet

On April 2008, I...the single mother of three was just completing my last round of chemo/radiation for thyroid cancer.  After so many hospitalizations and accrued medical bills, and drained out savings accounts, my eleven year home was in the arrears six months. Originally Habitat for Humanity was my first lenders.  At this time, Habitat refused to accept my check of $3000 and proceeded with foreclosure.  Therefore, I petitioned the courts to delay the date and had an extension twice.  After so many letters and attempts to settle with Habitat, I contacted several banks and filed applications for refinance loans.  In the process of this, I was contacted by DeMarco REI.  They claimed they received my information on the internet and realized my home was up for foreclosure and they wanted to help.  They wanted to schedule a visit to my home, but because I was leary I set it up at a nearby coffee shop.  At that time I met with Christina O and Eric Hovlichik (I think his name is mispelled).  Thereafter, they presented all they offer and so I asked them to leave me some literature because I wanted to run it by my attorney friend and my fianc.  They said I could go onto their website. And, so I did and forwarded the info to my fianc and future father in law.  During this time I had also been pursued by two other obvious scammers that came to my door.  Well, DeMarco REI sucked me in, they never mentioned anything about rent or the deed being switched over or for that matter anything about an investor.  They told me to put stop payment on the checks to Habitat.  So, when after three months of deliberating I decided to take their offer, pay my mortgage off? Wow! Clear my credit? Yes! Consolidate my outstanding debts? Amazing! and Cash Pay Out? Terrific.  Money wise they said I will pay what I could afford per month.  My original previous mortgage was $535 with no interest.  At the time of settling with DeMarco at Garden State Title Loan Office, I was told my pay out will have to be less, because Habitat had a stipulation where DeMarco paid out $15,000 for early sale of mortgage.  I didn't even know I was selling anything.  When I asked, "wait a minute sale? what?", they explained it as  real estate terminology.  Then they had rent listed, again I said "RENT? what are you talking about...I need to have an attorney here." No Ms. Gonzalez don't go by what the papers say, its just for filing sake.  But, I noticed it said I was getting a pay out of thousands of dollars.  I didn't even receive a penny.  They said, well; we think it wiser if we keep it in escrow for you in case of an emergency, your children are secured.  So, I believed it.  I was so overwhelmed, not clear minded from the side of effects of my treatments.  And, Christina said, "oh it'll all work out.  Sixteen months later I come to learn DeMarco disappeared with over $16,000 I paid to them.  The bank, insurance or tax collectors were ever paid.  The city came to pad lock my home and said...Oh! we weren't aware anyone was residing in this home.  I was "huh!" This has been my home for twelve years what are you talking about?  Well, I got on the phone called the township they said they couldn't release information to me, because I wasn't the homeowner.  I said, "what?" This took place on a Sunday.  On Monday, a man named James Truman called me and told me he owns my home.  And, that I was suppose to have been paying DeMarco $1400 per month.  They were handling his property.  My knees became week.  After arguing with him back/forth for about two days.  He said, he was doing a short sale through ERA.  This man knows nothing about the house.  He said, "well the house means nothing to me.  I just want to get rid of it."  But, its my HOUSE! He called me days later and told me I had a month to leave, but he spoke to a man that is interested in making an offer to the bank amd of the man gets the home, he will probably rent it back to me.  I asked him to put everything in writing to me.  He claims, Mr. Truman that he's innocent in all of this, that he too was a victim of DeMarco.  But, a month later today and this man has put nothing in writing to me.  Yet, he called me a couple of days ago to ask me to send him rent for August/September.  But, for what? I have no lease.  I have no mortgage, Countrywide refuses to speake to me, because supposively I'm not the morgage holder.  In the mean time I have nothing no warning, foreclosure, eviction notices.  Living in Limbo...searching to rent an apartment, no luck there because i have a judgment due to medical bills, so I've been rejected to many apartments.  I have no guidance, no clue where I'm moving to, when I have to move, I'm half packed.  My children are on edge.  This is has been their stable home for twelve years.  Now we are a chaotic family without guidance.  DeMarco has depleted all I worked so hard for as a single parent for so many years.  After recovering from my death sentencing illness, I'm faced with this.  How can people like DeMarco REI employees, staff, owner, team, sleep at night knowing they are putting families in the street?  Someone has to do something.  I don't know what my tomorrow holds.  I don't know who to turn to.  I know I need a lawyer,but I can't afford one.  I believe if DeMarco isn't around to take the fall, then this Truman character should.  I might have under my illness and unstable medical mental status signed something detrimental to our futures.  I understood one thing and they said another.  They took advantage of my illness and vulnerability.  So, now I lay my head to sleep every night not knowing if I'm the owner any more, will I be pad locked tomorrow. Will I have a place to move to.  If these people get away with this, I, a once homeowner...social service worker in my community will be homeless.  Please someone help! I feel as despite I fought off the cancer, I'm being violated, abused, attacked and punished by these professional SCAMMERS!
