I purchased a 2002 Chrysler Mini van financed by Nuvell in May 2005. I never made a late payment until Oct 2006 when my husband lost his job we had just purchased a home, we made the payments but they were late. Nuvell's representative suggested that I enroll in their 60 day deferred payment program which we qualified for because my husband lost his job due to no fault of his own. 3 weeks after informing me of this, Nuvell developed amnesia, no one new of any such program.

I finally get someone to acknowledge the conversation, stating that I had names times and proof of phone calls on my answering machine. I was told the lead supervisor wrote the following in my file:

Customer has always maintained a good payment history, all references checked out okay, customer has never requested defered payment. Deferal will be granted when husband finds a job.

Why would I need a deferal if my husband had a job? Is it just me or is that plain stupid! And this was their idea, not mine! These people must be stopped! They will say and do anything to get you to make the payment even if it means that they themselves are dishonest and misleading in the process. Each person I spoke to just stumbled over the last persons lies. I would seriously like to ask anyone who's thinking of doing business with them to look over their practices first before you sign that contract. The interest rates are unspeakable and the customer service is just as bad.

Glad to hear

Glad to hear they treated you fairly, unfortunatly they did not provide the same courtesy for me. As I stated before, they deferral was their suggestion and not my request.

Once I was informed that I would have a two month deferral and used my money to pay household bills, Nuvell changed their minds-30 days later and added late fees etc. Once again, I have never been late paying my note and they acknowledge this-still I was told I could get a deferral after I get another job!

Sorry I cannot share your admiration for this company. That was just bad business.

Nuvell is bad but not that bad

I have dealt with Nuvell for over 8 years! (2 different cars) during that time I have purchased a home so my credit normally stays in the high 600's but I dont have
Super PERFECT credit!

In my State for some reason if I am a little late I do not get charged any extra penaltys or fee's. I pay the same monthly payment no matter whether it is on time or two months behind. (propably because my interest rate is about 19% high anyways) But during most of the 8 years I have always been on time with my payments or at least I pay it within two weeks of it being due which has always reflected positive payment history, until recently,

In June of this year 2006 I had a baby and then found out I had cervical cancer I had to then get an emergency Hysterectomy & due to all these health issues I went over my FMLA time at work & I lost my job! during this time frame it took over 6 weeks from my surgery to get an unemployment check, and ALL my bills became over due but I explained all this to Nuvell and they granted me a two month deferment no questions asked (10.00) fee was charged for doing that and that was it! so for JUNE and JULY I did not have to pay anything to them come August 30th I had to start paying again and I still am not caught up all the way but I do not fall past 30 days behind, I for the most part have dealt with nothing but freindly associates all except for one that recently threatened me with being sent to the lost/recovery (repo) department because it looked like I was going to fall 35 days behind and they are real silly about going over 30 days behind. But I will not hold EARL the mean representative responsible for bashing Nuvell he is the first one in 8 years that talked a little negative to me and had me upset but I know that was a scare tactic to get me to pay sooner, I was able to make the payment and everything is back copesthetic with my account for now!

In my experience with Nuvell in 8 years I can pretty much say you will not get any phone calls until you are 10 days past due, at 10 days past due you will receive about 3-4 phone calls per day if they have still not heard from you on the 20th day past due you will start to receive a call every 1 1/2 -2 hours up to 8:00 pm depending on your time zone. Yes that can be pretty annoying but in the end you do owe them money and that is just the way they conduct business, and it works too because I hate my phone ringing off the hook with their automatic dialer so I do try to make sure I can get them their payment as fast as possible to stop the calls!

I am sure they can be pretty nasty at times (some reps) but most of them are pretty professional and Will work with you so long as you work with them!
