Please beware of companies like New York Trailblazers in Jamaica, Queens that advertise "security jobs." They are scamming you. When you respond to their Craigslist.com advertisement, they ask if you "are you calling about the job?" This is the scam hook used to lure you in and pay them money. They tell you over the phone that it is $100 fee. Then you arrive for the "interview" and they tell you about all the jobs and connections they have with the Security companies in New York City. Then they tell the real fees -- which total up to $300 or more. I only paid the $100 and started the training.

I was having reservations about paying the remaining amount (totalling another $200), but did it because I was guaranteed that they could find me a job. Well, over a month later, still nothing.

I wish these training schools would stop taking advantage of people who are in financially desperate situations as a result of today's economy. People are tapping out their limited resources, and begging and borrowing from family and friends to pay for their security training and are not getting jobs at the end of the rainbow. But at the end of the day, you bet those security training schools are getting paid and their employees are not worrying about how to pay their bills at night. The State of New York needs to regulate this rogue activity immediately and force these training schools to be honest about the services they provide, to be honest about their ACTUAL fees, and to not falsely advertise that they have "jobs" that they do not. You are playing with people's money. I am going to pitch this to the local media to see if they can look into this security scamming trend. These companies have taken the New York State requirement that all those working in security be certified and turned it into a money-making bonanza -- at the expense of innocent, hard-working, determined, but umemployed people. Meanwhile, don't believe anything you see in the Security category on Craigslist. It is a scam to get your money.
