Used NZ Van Lines to relocate our house lot of chattels from New Plymouth to Kerikeri.

Their representative conducted a pre-move survey of our chattels and quoted us accordingly, we were told we would require a whole truck. When moving day came and the truck arrived it had another two jobs already loaded and they could not fit all of our stuff on. We had to leave some items behind and were not even offered a discount for this.

Van Lines were instructed to load certain items, that had been clearly labelled in the presence of their representative, last into the storage facility in Kerikeri so we could access them first, for business purposes when we needed them. When we arrived in Kerikeri, several weeks later, and opened our secure storage facility, we found, to our shock and disappointment, that not only had our instructions re the marked items not been followed, our chattels had been haphazardly, I won't even say stacked, they had been thrown into the storage lockup causing damage to multiple items, including a motor scooter belonging to our son.

I photographed the way our stuff had been load into the storage facility and the damage that had been caused to multiple items and sent it to NZ Van Lines for an explanation.

Their representative acknowledged that their contractors had failed to look after our chattels and store them appropriately and said they would compensate us for the inconvenience and damage. I spoke to them on several occasions and they informed me they were discussing what sort of compensation they would offer, that was nearly two months ago, and we have not heard from them since.

I will never use this company again and I warn others to beware of employing this company to move anything of value to you, anywhere at all.
