I read the many other duped customers and the sad defense provided by former employees.
If this many people are reporting this - it must be
a scam!
I bought a camcorder from Best Buy w/ a $50 gift card. A week later, I get this privasafe e-mail saying that I must sign up for it to get the card. I responded - no way. I told them I didn't want the account. I received repeated e-mails but I deleted them b/c of the nuisance - they kept saying - to sign up please reply -- so I didn't sign up.
Well, I recently took over bill paying duties from my wife and I noticed this charge on our bill. I don't know how long it has been there, but I am furious.
Who do I turn to - I will call the company, but I fear the red tape runaround.

CALL VERIZON AND TELL THEM THAT YOU DO NOT WANT THIRD PARTY BILLING- HAVE IT BLOCKED SO NO ONE WILL BE ABLE TO PLACE CHARGES ON YOUR PHONE BILL UNLESS YOU AUTHORIZE- OAN HAS BEEN RIPPING PEOPLE OFF FOR YEARS AND WHEN I SPOKE TO THEM REGARDING CHARGES THAT THEY PLACED ON MY PHONE BILL, I RAISED HELL, TOLD EACH INDIVIDUAL THAT I SPOKE TO THAT THEY WOULD BE INCLUDED IN A LAWSUIT THAT I WAS PLANNING TO FILE REGARDING FRAUD AND THEY REMOVED IT! FUNNY HOW THE WORD LAWSUIT CAN MAKE SOMEONE TURN AROUND! THEY KNOW THEY ARE SCAMMERS- FACT!

I happened to open a Verizon bill one month and found a strange charge for over $35 for "other service charges", upon further digging I saw it was from some online company for some phantom service I supposedly signed up for. Well, while $35 isn't a ton of money, I still had no desire to pay for something I did not order. So, I went on the offensive big time. I called Verizon, got their message center and left a very angry message about these "other service charges". I then called the number for the online company and left them a message stating that if these charges every showed up on my bill again I would sue them and report them to the Better Business Bureau. The next month those charges were gone and have never reappeared.
