I went to Ocean Air Marketing for a "preliminary interview". I couldn't find much information on this company online which was my first red flag seeing as how they claimed to be a marketing company that has clients like pizza hut and major sports teams. I was interviewed by the "CEO" Jesse Dannemiller and could not get much information out of him. They were doing what I call speed interviewing. It was an office that looked like an overnight built establishment. The proccess was identical to other rip off reports on this site and wanted to report this new name which seems to be affiliated with the same companies. This is just another MLM which can not be profitted from unless you are the top dog. I was invited to the next interview which is a day following another sales person. From other reports I would be following him or her using my gas selling cupons door to door making an insufficient amount of money. Then I would most likely get recruitment boneses and things of that nature, just like any other pyrimid schemes. I think the guy underestimated me because I am young and could not possibly see through scams. I just wanted to post this so that now this will show on searches for ocean air marketing and inform the next person. Also soliciting is illegal in VA unless you have permission.

#14 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Former campaign manager

AUTHOR: Cardshark99va - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 10, 2009

I am deeply sorry that you feel that way about the company. I worked for Jesse for about 4 months and worked my way up through the ranks at record pace along with a co-worker of mine, we went from first day to campaign managers in a little less than 3 weeks which is nearly unheard of, we were the first to do this feat so quickly in our office. but back to the topic, if you decide to become an employee and sign the paperwork to work for them. they pay for your time cash on the spot for the first week (paid training) whether you sell any thing or not. most people begin making their own sales around 2-3 days after training begins. once training week is done you then start working for straight commission which is 30% of your total sales. yes the work is done outdoors and it can sometimes be very hot or even raining, but most people have enough common sense to bring a bottle of water with them. even if they don't the entire office usually stops at the 7-11 at the corner to load up on drinks for the day before they set off for their designated zones. during the day of shadowing, the interviewee goes out into the field with a campaign manager and learns about how the company works and the advancement/growth structure of the company. the lunch is payed for, during which the interviewee is given a chance to ask any questions they might have as well as ask to end they day/interview if they choose to, or to continue on for the rest of the day. at the end of the day there is a recap meeting at the office with Jesse, at this time Jesse will either offer you a job or he will thank you for your time and wish you the best of luck. as for the comment about being left at a fast food establishment, i am very sorry that the campaign manager did not have the respect nor the courtesy to assist u in some way of getting back to either the office or a meeting place from which u could be picked up or meet up with someone you could get a ride from. there is no excuse for letting another sales associate provoking/forcing them to leave you in a parking lot. that kind of action is met with swift justice at the office because of the damaging effects that has on the reputation of the company. it was completely uncalled for and should never be put up with in a work place environment.

oh and by the way i was averaging between 400-600 a week plus bonuses when i was a campaign manager. when i was a sales associate i was making about 250-400 a week

They Have TRUTH IN ADVERTISING HERE...

AUTHOR: Joe - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, October 31, 2008

The truth is that they only market Ocean Air --empty, free, air and that is probably the only pay you would receive from them too.

They told you up front what they do...

Now that you KNOW what kind of "people" these are, THANK YOU FOR LETTING THE REST OF US KNOW!

I Have Interviewed There!

AUTHOR: Erica R. - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, October 30, 2008

I interviewed there on March 17, 2007. I went into the office and was interviewed by Jesse and was brought on for a second interview which included the hands on experience of the job. They had me under the impression that they took presentations to the businesses and got funding. What they didn't tell me was that I was going to be in a car with three men I did not know or felt comfortable riding with. As well, if the job was too physically demanding that I would be left in the middle of Deep Creek in Chesapeake. I lived around the corner from Ocean Air Marketing by Mount Trashmore, so I was about twenty miles from home with no cell phone (did not own one!) or way home as I went with them. I was dropped off at the local Hardee's on George Washington Highway and had to call my fiance from work to get me. Lets just say it got a little ugly when he got there (man did he lose it on them!!). I went to his mothers house around the corner and called the office to tell the receptionist what had happened to me and all she could say was that she was sorry that I was treated that way and that she would make sure it was taken care of. As far as I know those guys are still working there. Not only is Jesse a fraud but he also doesn't care about prospective employees safety as well. I felt it was very unprofessional and I hope that he pisses off the wrong person and end up getting a lawsuit. As well, they were just going from door to door asking people to pay for coupons. It was like thirty dollars for some pizza hut coupons that to me otherwise would be for free in the circulars they add in the Sunday paper. I walked seven miles before I threw in the towel and it was ninety-seven degrees with no water and they parked the car and walked the entire neighborhood. The neighborhood we went to was like twelve blocks or more. I did not feel comfortable and if you are a woman looking to do this then please don't be stupid like me and just get into a strangers car if you don't feel it's right. My life flashed before my eyes the entire time because they put me with the most unsafe looking people they could find. Worst experience and they are a scam. It's all over Virginia Beach. Them and Virginia Personnel located in Norfolk who charges $365 to sign up with their "placement agency". When will the scamming stop?

OCEAN AIR MARKETING = Smart Circle = Quantum Just another Pyramid Scheme

AUTHOR: Misssixty3261987 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 05, 2008

When I first moved into this area a few years ago, I was looking for a job. I stumbled onto this one when I was still back in MI and I was told to get in touch with them as soon as I got here.

When I went to interview with them, the office pretty much looked like any other pyramid scheme office I've seen before, such as the one at RedLine Events in Virginia Beach. All those companies are in one way or another affiliated with SmartCircle or Quantum.

I was immediately invited to the second interview "day of O"
All this was, was walk around the area all day, in a business suit in about 90 degree weather. We literally knocked on doors, whether residntial or commercial.

Needless to say, when I came back to the office, I was given a test and offered a job that was COMMISSION ONLY.

Please stay away. They claim to offer base pay, but they don't. You pay for your own gas, food, etc. There are no benefits and the only thing you get is the outlook of owning one of your own Pyramid Scheme offices and defraud college grads.

Ocean Air Marketing is a commision only sales job

AUTHOR: Frank - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, January 17, 2008

So are we to believe that a company based out of Virginia Beach, that has only been around since February 2006 (bbb.org) has the following clients:
-San Francisco Giants
-New York Islanders
-Utah Jazz,
-Doubletree Hotels
-Marriott Hotels
-Radisson Hotels
-Pizza Hut
-The Funny Bone Comedy Club
-Heron Ridge Golf Club
-The Washington Nationals
-Cinemark Theaters

Pleaaasseee..Yeah, New York City has nothing over the booming national marketing district that is Virginia Beach.. LOL. Maybe they sell those "Entertainment'08" books that you can get for 30 bucks that has discounts to some of these busineses? Not sure if I would consider the Utah Jazz a Client when the salesmen for Ocean Air Marketing sells coupons for "2 free hot dogs and 2 free sodas" with a basketball ticket purchase.. ha ha..

Look folks, this so called marketing company uses deception of a marketing position working with well established companies to lure in young graduates to do their door to door selling of perfume, gas coupons, Chinese trinkets, magazines, or whatever it is they are selling. They advertise on Monster.com, CareerBuilder.com, local papers, local websites looking for young recruits with the lure of an "Entry Level Marketing Position". If your idea of a job is bugging people in a mall parking lot and gas stations, and going door to door, with the hope of someday opening an office of your own (i.e. becoming a manager) where you get young folks in to do the peddling for you, then have at it. If you really want to do research on this company and read people's stories who have done this type of job, then do a search for "DS-Max" and "Cydcor" on this site. These companies are very much like Cydcor and DS-Max (may even associated with them). I might write some letters to the San Francisco Giants, New York Islanders and some of these other companies that Ocean Air Marketing has testomonials about just to see what their affiliation with Ocean Air Marketing really is. They may be very interested in what Ocean Air Marketing's website is saying about them. So is a cease and desist letter considered a testimonial? LOL

And Another Thing

AUTHOR: Dave - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, January 17, 2008

This company uses Forbes and BBB in it's signature. Forbes has NOTHING on this company, and the BBB says: 'BBB Accreditation: This organization is not a BBB Accredited business. '

So, isn't there some kind of law that prohibits a company from insinuating that it is an accredited organization, when it's not? Hmmm, maybe we should go to your courthouse and file some paperwork.

Wow, GUILTY verdict after a WEEK?

AUTHOR: Dave - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, January 17, 2008

That's amazing. I guess the courts have really speeded up the hearing process lately. Only one measly week to:

1. Get an attorney
2. File a petition to the court
3. Have this person served
4. Set up a hearing date
5. Go to trial
6. Have the judge find the defendant guilty

That is truely amazing. I would like to know what attornies and the courthouse you are using for this. Maybe we can OJ Simpson reigned in that court instead.

Now, for the reality of the complaint. The guy never said it was true, he said it SEEMED like a MLM scam, and was warning others to check it out first. 'The interview process was identical to other rip offs'... again, not slander. There is nothing in this complaint that warrants a slander charge. The guy never came out and accused you of anything. In my opinion, you just proved you were a fraud by writing that ridiculous rebuttal.
