My sole purpose here is to contribute my experience... I've kissed my cash goodbye.

On 9/7/2017 I purchased two o-rings for $5.30 from OEM Parts Haus via ebay.  The listing had a prominent image of the set... exactly what I needed.  These things retail for 1.32 from BMW.  However, they are necessary to replace two camshaft sensors that have been causing start-up issues... and I would much rather pay and have them shipped than drive across town and end up stranded.  After ordering, I realized the same set is on the OEM Parts Haus site for $.94  I didn't try to cancel - I just needed the parts.

Two days later I received one o-ring via FedEx.  This is a small business right outside my city.  USPS would have been just fine - I just needed both o-rings to wrap up this project.  

When I contacted the seller, he was stunned at my stupidity, "The listing uses all singular language, it says sold individually, sold in increments of 1 and it literally says quantity needed is 2 or 3 one thousand times."  Yes, had I scrolled through 50 pages of vehicle compatibility, I would have seen the number needed per BMW model... completely irrelevant to the listing.  I already knew the number I needed - that's why I ordered two.  After using my browser to search the page, I finally saw "sold individually" - haven't come across "increments of 1", but maybe it's there.

I then acknowledged I missed the text and asked why he would feature a big image of the set if he was selling them as singles. No response.

In an effort to get him off the defensive, I explained my frustration and how such a seemingly trivial part had put me in a bind... I was white-knuckling it while driving with bad sensors - even in the vicinity of my home.  I also suggested he update the image as the same thing could easily happen to someone else.

At this point, any reputable business would have taken at least some responsibility, stuck a 94 cent part in a stamped envelope and called it a day.  

Nope.

It was now ebay's fault - they had provided both the image and the description.  Guess they provided the image for his site as well...?  Of course, one week later, nothing has changed.

In the end, the fact that this was all over a 94 cent part was the most frustrating thing of all.  If this guy will risk his reputation to save one dollar... imagine if it was about the money.
