I just Got this letter in the mail at my parents, sent to an old address saying I had won a drawing from readers digest publishers clearing house. The thing is I never entered any drawings and I have not lived at that address for about 5 years now.

I didn't call the number or even try and cash the check. I just did some research on the web and saw that it was a scam and I wanted to let people know it happened to me too. It was enticing to see a real looking check for $2980.20 but I didn't think for one second that the $45,000 they said I had won was real and I never in my life heard of the Intrepid Ocean Linear.

They also said it needed to be claimed in around 2 weeks which is just a ploy to get you to act without thinking. I'm going to show the check to all my family and friends to let them know that if it sound to good to be true, it probably is. I could see someone falling for this but just rip it up.

OTF, RootBlast International, Oaks Fianancial Trust, Intrepid Ocean, Larry P Kelley

AUTHOR: Larry P Kelley - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, August 17, 2007

My name is Larry P Kelley and I am the Vice President of Finance for RootBlast International, Inc. based in Canton Ohio. RootBlast International Inc is a legitimate company that distributes a plant growth product that was invented and is produced in Canada.

You may visit our website at www.rootblast.com for more information on our company and products.

This week we too have been made a victim of the Oaks Financial Trust scam. We are not nor have we ever been associated with Oaks Financial Trust, North America Holiday Travel Reward Promotions, Intrepid Ocean or any of the individuals listed on the bogus Trip Award Notifications.

We do not participate in any vacation giveaway promotion. We did recently have a check lost in the mail. It now appears that this check was stolen from the mail and has been used to create the bogus checks that are being used in this scam. We believe this is part of a larger scamming group with ties to people operating from Canada, China and Nigeria.

We have reported all available information to law enforcement agencies. Again, this is a scam. Do not attempt to cash any of the checks identified as being issued from RootBlast International. The checks will be returned by the bank. Instead, report all information to your local law enforcement agency.
