I am being charged for services that I never received from Ohio State Medical Center.
I was told by their billing department that I was at their hospital on January 27th, 2009, for lab work. I have never set foot in this hospital.
I made an appointment at their James Cancer Clinic for January 7th, 2009. I cancelled this appointment over 24 hours before the 7th. I did not set a new appointment due to lack of transportation.
Why am I being billed for 'lab work' on the 27th.
I am not surprised by the actions of this hospital.
Sometime during May of this year, I watched a local news program in which a doctor at this hospital 'blew the whistle' on OSU for claiming that patients who had pap smear tests were falsely stated positive for cancer when they were not. One can only imagine what this was about. This doctor claims that he is being punished for bringing this matter to the attention of his superiors.
About 35 years ago a hospital in another state fraudulently billed Medicaid on my behalf for thousands of dollars for uterine cancer treatment that I never received. I believe that this problem with corrupt hospitals is rampant throughout this country.
If there is an attorney out there that can help with this matter, I would appreciate contacting "Rip-Off Report"

Thanks for suggestion, It does not apply to my situation

To Opana
Your suggestion that the billing fraud might be a case of mislabling by a lab tech. does not apply to my situation.
I am new to Ohio, and I have never had any lab work done here.
the only time I set foot in an Ohio hospital was at Dublin Methodist emergency room, where I was told by a Dr. Bourn that 'if I needed a band-aide, I should go to Wal-greens'. I went there because I thought a large basal cell tumor on my back had become infected.
this so-called 'doctor' and hospital were in clear violation of the EMTALA Law. (emergency medical treatment and active labor act).
Not only were they supposed to give me treatment but also guides to the state 'access to medical treatment' law.

Possible mislabeled lab sample
AUTHOR: Opana - (U.S.A.)

Although it is unlikely, but it is possible, the lab may have results in your name despite you're not being at hospital because of a mislabeled lab sample.
A nurse or a lab tech could have mistakenly grabbed the wrong labels for the tubes while drawing blood on another patient and sent blood samples to the lab with your name on them. Thus, you have lab results in the system without you being present at the James. I would ask the billing department was there a corresponding MD clinic note for the blood work? If there's no other indication that you were there, then ask to speak to the director of the billing department and have the charges removed. If you get no where, then ask for the Patient Advocate and explain what happened. Hope this helps.
