Old Republic Home Warranty Company What's the warranty for if you do all the work? San Ramon California

We have the deluxe plan and expected deluxe service. We got zilch for service.

The dishwasher broke down, so we call Old Republic. Old Republic called DiChristoper Appliances, who showed up promptly and diagnosed the dishwasher unrepairable. Old Republic called and immediately offered a settlement insufficient to have the unit replaced locally. We wanted the dishwasher replaced and refused the settlement.

Thus Old Republic directed us to GE's web site to select/order a dishwasher, even though the dishwasher being replaced is a high end Kitchen-Aid. In an attempt to discourage us further and make a settlement offer seem more attractive, we were warned the dishwasher might not fit and that we could be responsible for $100's for installation if the dishwasher we ordered did not fit. We asked Old Republic to have their service representative to handle ordering the replacement dishwasher, as their is nothing in the contract that calls for us to become dishwasher experts all of a sudden. Old Republic refused to have anyone come out or handle this. When I suggested they find out from the original technician what kind and size of dishwasher they needed to replace, they told me it was our job.

After carefully measuring the dishwasher and researching the matter, we found most dishwashers are a standard size. We went as far as to select the GE dishwasher (essentially the color) on the web site. We were told we could not get a dishwasher with the previous features because they were not made anymore.

We were then contacted by a delivery company associated with GE and told the dishwasher was ready for delivery. The GE delivery company wanted one entire day they could deliver the dishwasher and it could not be a Thursday, as we requested.

We asked the GE delivery company who was installing the dishwasher and were told they had no idea. After a quick call to Old Republic, we were advised we would have to store the dishwasher in the box (who knows if its damaged, the right color or what) until Old Republic could tell us who the technician would be. Then we were supposed to make all the arrangement with Old Republic's technician. We were starting to feel as though we worked for Old Republic.

We are talking about a 1 bedroom condo with no room to store a boxed dishwasher. We asked Old Republic to arrange for the dishwasher and the technician to arrive on the same day, wh if the dishwasher could be delivered on the same day the technician arrived and asked Old Republic to handle this process. We were told by supervisors it was not their responsibility and that we had to do all the coordinating since we were the ones with the broken dishwasher.

Essentially, Old Republic wants you to accept a settlement. They do not want to provide replacement or repair of your issue, which destroys the idea that their warranty is a convenience to make home ownership worry-less.

It has been three months and I still don't have a dishwasher. And, the GE delivery company returned the dishwasher and we are at square one. This is extremely poor service and I would not recommend this company to anyone.
