Re: Damaged Furniture

Please note the power point with pictures of my furniture as delivered to my home. Unfortunately it has taken me three months to get home to discover the total extent of the incompetence of the Olympic Van Lines  team.

As you are aware through several phone discussions and e-mails (Noted in the following pages to include dates and times I have expressed my complete disappointment in the manner for which I have been treated through Olympic Van Lines and their representatives.

My original discussions with Tim led  me to believe Olympic Van Lines would move my furniture for $1,200.00. I was informed Olympic would only take Money Orders or Cashiers Checks and that I have $600.00 to be provided to the pick up team and $600.00 Money  Order or Cashiers Check ready for the delivery team. For this I was prepared. I was also informed that there would be additional cost incurred if my belongings weighed over 2000 lbs. During my discussion with Tim I told Tim I would have my belongs prepared for transport and there would be no additional need for the Olympic Van Line team to box my belongings, for which I was ready. Several days before pick up I attempt to contact Tim to discuss pickup time. After many phone calls and not return calls I finally receive a call from Tim for which I discuss time of pick up and express my concerns with lack of communications for which Tim informs me he is on vacation and appeared to be annoyed that I was even bothering him.

Moving team shows up five hours late and explains they had a truck breakdown which caused their delay (another moment of comfort with Olympic Van Lines). As the movers begin moving my furniture from the second story to the truck one of the movers sits down for about ten minutes and then asks me to sit and talk with him. He then begins to explain the cost breakdown for boxs and wrapping. This has now been fourty five minutes since they arrived and many of my items have already been packed and moved from the apartment. I immediately stop him and ask for and estimated cost of materials for which he estimated about $500 to $700 additional cost. Already with my possessions in their truck and needing to get my furniture out of the apartment I agreed  to continue. Once all of the belongings  have been moved I am then presented with an additional charge of $1,600.00 charge for the boxing and wrapping. I have now been hijacked and have no choice but to pay, for which a Money Order or Cashiers Check was no longer necessary. How quickly the Company Policy changed!

Is this the best you can do? $3,500  bedroom set undamaged until you got a hold of it. Be sure to have your Supervisor call me.

This has been one of the worst experiences of my live working with you and the Olympic Van Lines Organization. What was to be a quality provider of services has turned into a Nightmare. I consider what you and the Olympic Van Lines organization has provided as Piracy and I will be making contact with the Better Business Bureau and Legal representation. You had provided me a proposal  for $1,046.40 and led me to believe any additional charges may be for weight of the furniture. During our discussion I informed you I would have all of my furniture packed and ready for transport for which you indicated nothing regarding the additional packing. You led me to believe Olympic Van Line would disassemble my furniture, load, transport and unload my furniture and the only additional cost which I may incur would be for any weight over 2000 lbs. Not quote below.

Upon arrival on December 29, 2010 the packing crew begins to load my furniture no word of packing charges. After loading begins I am requested to discuss packing charges. I sit with one of your Olympic Van Line pack Pirates and become informed that they will have to pack everything in their boxs. I stop the packing and ask him to give me an estimate. I receive a $511.00 estimate. I tell them to continue. At the end he informed me that the additional charges are over $1,600.00. Im outraged but have no choice for you now have my belongings and I am held as a hostage to your scheme. I pay or will not receive my belongings. They had the gull to ask for a tip (What kind of scoundrels are you).

Hello Mr

I apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused in regards to your move.  Actually, I have made several attempts in contacting you and was unable to reach you at either number in your records.  Our 1-800-917-7977 number rings at everyone's desk and no employee relayed a message to me.  We have no problem with resolving any issues that arise, but understand there are procedures that are carried out to assist all of our customer's needs in a professional manner.  During our last conversation I informed you that I had no problem with discounting your charges of packing material.  Also, if you have any broken or damaged items then you are required to call our insurance department (954-317-2448) to make a claim.  These procedures are fairly simple and do not require your threats.  If you want to speak to me directly I will make another attempt to contact you or you are more than welcomed to call me.  1-800-917-7977

Respectfully,

Nicole

I appreciate your response unfortunately I seem to be hitting road blocks when I attempt to call either you or the Claims Firm.

I have spoken to Max at the Insurance Company (1-954-317-2448) at which time he promised to send me the forms which I have yet to receive. For some reason I have attempted to call him on two additional occasions and got cut off. You can imagine my frustration after all I have been through.

I have yet to uncover the remaining furniture at my home but have been informed that the couch arrived unprotected and has several areas of damage. This along with the King size head board that is completely destroyed. I will be photographing all the furniture prior to and as I unwrap the reset to document the remaining damage which I expect to find more. I would be more than happy to have one of your representatives come to my home to observe the unavailing of the remaining furniture and packages as a witness if you would be so kind. I will be returning in mid April which gives us plenty of time to make arrangements.

I have tried to call you and keep getting a voice message from Kevin at the number you provided me. Basically I get no response from either you or the insurance carrier unless I send these e-mails to Tim. I need you to call me so we can work towards resolution of this issue. I need the insurance company to provide me with the forms Max promised. My case number with the insurance carrier is OLIVRI105.

Please contact me ASAP to resolve this issue before we find ourselves in a court of law trying to resolve this issue. I am tired of no response from either Olympic Van Lines or the Insurance Claims Company.

I believe this is very clear as to my expectation.

Received claims adjustment forms on  February 23,2011.

Note Settlement Offer I refused:
