My company provided me $3000 in Visa debit cards in May 2014 (two cards $2000,$1000).  I used a portion of one of the cards in Nov. 2015 and attempted to use the remaining balances in Nov. 2016 however both cards declined.  I was embarrased so I used my credit card for payment.  I contacted Omnicard and no explaination was provided.  I confirmed that I still had $1800 remaining on the cards so I figured I would use the balance for an upcoming trip.  I tried to use the reamining balance once again in Sept. 2017 to book flights and discovered that both cards had expired in May.    The expiration date was printed on the cards so I should have noticed, however it just wasn't something I was expecting.  I spoke with Omnicard several times through several "levels" of folks.  Everyone I spoke with said there was nothing they could do.  One of my calls to their "second level supervisor" Ron (ID-00413), I asked for the phone number to his supervisor and he gave me HIS cell phone number to get me off the phone!  Each time I called they provided several lame responses such as I should contact my company to see what they can do.  Ya, meaning my company would have to give me $1800.  Everyone read me the same corporate approved responses such as my company agreed to the terms, etc.  Let's be real, my company certainly didn't want to give Omnicard $1800, which is what happened.  Omnicard told me one of the cards had not be activated.  I have my cell phone records to prove that I called their number to authorize the cards.  Additionally, I called a couple times to confirm my balance.  The cards were activated.    Because some retailers place a hold on your card for more than the charge, the card will decline if your card does not have a high enough balance.  That means these cards are VERY hard to use and almost always will have some remaining balance that's unused.  Convenient for Omnicard huh?  Think of the amount of money they make from unused balances.  In my situation, I have written proof the retailer was authorizing the correct amount with no hold, however Omnicard did not care.  Most giftcard laws ensure a card is valid for five years, however it seems Omnicard gets around these laws by calling these "reward cards" vs giftcard?

I was using the $1800 to take my son to Disney World.  He knows about the trip and I don't know what I going to do!  What kind of company is this heartless to a little boy!  I can understand there possibly being some small fees, etc. however "stealing" $1800 from someone just because you can is aweful.  I feel bad for the folks who can't find a better job and have to work for this terrible company.  Omnicard will likely reply in an unprofessional manner to this report as they have many others.  They have a pattern of blaming the customer and everyone but themselves to justify their deceitful business practices.  Searh online for Blackhawk Network and their subsidiaries including Omnicard.  There are A LOT of online complaints so RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN! We all can't be wrong and there is a obvious bad trend with these companies.

I've contacted VISA, the Ohio AG office, CFPB and will try the BBB, FTC, my State Representative and anyone else I can think of.  Posting my story on social media, reaching out to local media and a variety of these reipoffreport type sites, I hope will save others for my situation.  I gotta think my efforts will be seen by enough people to cost these dirtballs more than $1800 in business.
