Buyer Beware: On Time Digital is a bait-and-switch scam site.

After looking at their website (which includes a lot of fancy security assurance and testimonials--which must be fake), I decided to order a camcorder from On Time Digital for what seemed like a great package price. I placed my order on a Friday.

On Sunday, concerned that my order was not going to get to me in time for a vacation I was taking, I called to upgrade the shipping speed. I spoke with a guy named Joe who immediately told me that the camera I had ordered was not available for the price advertised--$299.99--but he could give me "the US version" for $899.99. He spoke so quickly that I could barely understand what he was saying.

After suddenly changing my order, he said that, since I needed the order by Thursday, he'd upgrade the shipping speed at no cost, "to help me out". I then asked about the package I had originally ordered, and he said that he could give me that for an additional $399.99. Then, he tried to talk me into buying a warranty, starting high and going down until it seemed like a "deal." By the time he was done, my total order was $1149.99, more than double what I originally intended to spend ($549.99). I told him at this point that I wanted to cancel my order, and he got angry with me, telling me I would face a restocking fee. When I relented, he told me he'd process it immediately.

After 10 minutes, my boyfriend called back and spoke with the same guy. We'd gone back to look at their website, and could not find anywhere the model of the camcorder I wanted retailing for the price Joe quoted me ($899.99). Joe said that he wasn't going to argue, that he was just going to cancel the order, and then hung up on us.

I immediately decided to change my credit card account number, just in case, so that they could not try to bill me anyway. Boy, am I glad I did. On Tuesday, I got a call and an email from On Time Digital, telling me that they had tried to bill my card but that the payment had been declined--no mention of how much they tried to bill, and no acknowledgment of the cancellation. I will not be paying them anything, and I have since ordered the same product from a reputable company for a great price.

I highly suggest changing your credit card account number if this ever happens to you--it keeps them from billing you after they've supposedly canceled the order and saves you from a lengthy dispute process. My card company was great about it, very understanding, and sent me a new card within days.
