I begun my part-time employment for Onforce in Febuary 2009. I was never asked to pay back taxes on any of the work orders. Then in 2012 I recieved a notice from the IRS stating I owe taxes for the year of 2011 from work completed in ONFORCE the total amount close to 1400 dollars. I was under the impression if you made under 2000 dollars there was taxes to be paid. When I filed my return in 2013 for 2012 taxes I thought the IRS would take what I owe but they did not. I am now having to hire an attorney I do not have the money to pay back the IRS. I thought was taxes I owed on the Work orders is what I should pay not the whole amount. ONFORCE was taking 11percent of my money when I did complete the work orders.
I am wondering how to handle this

#1 UPDATE Employee
Taxes are a contractors responsibility..

Your first mistake is thinking you were an employee of OnForce. You were not. You were a 1099 contractor. Your second was thinking the IRS would do your taxes for you. They will not until you are late. Then they will not consider any deductions or expenses. That means you are soley reposiable for paying and figuring your own taxes out of the money you earned while using the platform. OnForce did nothing wrong, they warned you when you signed up, it's in their TOS. You failed to understand it. Many people use a CPA to track what taxes they owe and to figure out what amount per hour they need to earn to make a profit.
Suck it up and pay uncle sam.
I selected "I am an employee" because ripoffreport.com does not have "I am a contractor" to select. I've been doing contract work through OnForce for over 2 years.
