Onlingo offers language CDs at free or $1 fees plus shipping/handling (that in small type).

OK. But it promises "you can speak the language in 7 days" which is not possible for anyone, not even if you are in country. I thought I could just polish my French, which I already knew.

However, I called customer service to cancel immediately, within one minute, because I realized it was a foolish purchase. She only documented that I called, not that I asked to cancel.

When I saw a $69.95 charge on my account, I called again and asked to speak with a supervisor. The girl said that was not possible. She also did not document my call (no paper trail) in spite of my explicit reason to her for calling -- to get out of this.

Legitimate e-commerce businesses send a confirmation of an order and then a confirmation that the account has been debited because the items have been shipped. Onlingo does not do that in violation of VISA Code 41.

You can research the visa codes by googling visa.

I also have no product to show for the money paid. Customer service did not inform me of the need to get an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization). In fact, she told me nothing of use. No paper trail

After the $69.95 debit, I contacted my visa card rep. She says this company has always cooperated with them and I have no reason to complain. When I file this report tomorrow, I will also ask to speak to her supervisor.

Onlingo is a scam. It buries the real details in its "Terms and Conditions" in 4 pt. grey type at the bottom of the page and you must scroll down to find it. No one tells you to do this. A similar company is the Video Professor.

I intend to file a complaint also with the Federal Trade Comission who oversees e-commerce. Address your complaints to Secretary, FTC, Room H-159, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, D.C. 20580.

You may also want to file with your local District Attorney as we do not know where Onlongo is located physically.

Good luck and do your homework.

it is not a scam perse if they have it in the terms or service. It is you own fault if you dont read them. I do think tho that they cound on most people not reading them since almsot all companies do it especially when there is something for free(jsut pay shipping) then it is NOT free. There is no shcuh thing as a free lunch Everything has a price or a cost of some sort.
