If you are thinking of an apprenticeship program avoid Ono organic Farms at all cost. The program is slave labor it was not set up to teach organic farming. Chuck the owner is a very strict buissness man looking for any way to squeeze out extra cash at the expense of his employees. Ono means good in Hawaiian, however the name of the farm should be OH NOOOOO organic farms.
After employment was established, the truth came out, two thousand miles from anywhere. I am glad to have found a site to putout a warning to anyone else looking to do good in the world through organic farming(Ono definetly isn't).
In spite of my treatment on the farm, Lily chucks wife was an angel. She made myself and others desire to stay through her Kindness. I still had a great time being in HI. Paul (Uncle Paul) resides on the farm for political protection from other Locals. He was a shining example of true Hawaiian spirit. If only it was his farm..
Hope someone reads this and is saved from being stuck in Paradise in misery. The manager of the farms name is Pueo, who was also a very bright soul in the darkness. He is the owners step son and treated more as an employee than family by the owner. I hope that by reading this anyone looking to support this slave operation will by there products elsewhere.

Ono Farms

Ono Farms is located on the southeast coast of Maui in mountainous terrain. Farming is hard labor. Organic farming is even more difficult.
Since the individual who left the complaint did not specify as to what his objections were, it is difficult to rebut beyond generalizations. But Chuck Boerner is an honest businessman with a tremendous work ethic. I doubt a slacker would be able to keep up with him, thus also being unable to glean from him the details of organic farming.
Maybe he should choose a different career path

Unclear on the concept of apprenticeship
AUTHOR: Paul - (U.S.A.)

I have known Lily, Chuck, Pueo and the rest of the family for many years. I have visited the plantation and was amazed at the operation, kindness and diversity.
Apprenticeship was never meant to be a bed of roses, and to truly be an apprentice, as in days of old, could mean years of labor spent in the shadows. To spend one summer and think you can call yourself knowledgeable is absurd. Perhaps this person, unable to take ownership of their own thoughts, came into the transaction with less than a clear picture. Perhaps he or she came to the realization too late and was really dreaming of a nice paradise vacation instead. Hard work is the bottom line in any business and profitability is the outcome.
I hope that this person came to realize the errors and did some more investigating before starting out on their next adventure.
