I contacted a man named "John Lewis" at a company named Optinemailmarketingnow because he promised unusually high response rates for what he claims are double opt-in email addresses. His prices seemed unusually low, but I went ahead and paid an initial $99 for him to send out a big marketing email campaign.

After watching Google's analytics report, I was convinced that he wasn't really sending more than just a few emails per day, so I tried to call him.  His voice mail response promises to get back "within 20 minutes". This was Lie #2.

Then I decided to use some intelligence, and checked on RipoffReport for him and for his referrer, veely.com.

Obviously, he's been operating this scam since at least 2011. I'm out only $99 and a week lost waiting for results from his non-existent mailer, but a friend of mind is out many times that because he used "John" to create campaigns for many of his clients.

Almost immediately after finding that I had filed a complaint with Ripoff Report, John Lewis called me to chat.

Setting aside my assumption that most of the "data" he gave me verbally seemed less than credible, I need to add here that he immediately agreed to refund the $99 I had spent.

Just a few minutes ago I received a report from PayPal that he did refund 100% of the $99. Now I'm waiting to find out whether he's able to take care of my friend in Minnesota's complaint.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease.
