I am writing this report to inform anyone that has completed or has attempted to do business with Origin3 web design and hosting to run for the hills. I apologize now for having ever written a testimonial for the crowd at Origin3.

When I first contacted Origin3, I found it to be a good experience, felt I got what I wanted and had no troubles at that time. Well, that was then and this is now.

In time, I discovered they designed a website for a direct competitor in my geographic market. Normally, no big deal as they have that right. Problem is they allowed this competitor to plagiarize my site content as well as the look and feel of my site. I was treated with indifference by one of the "three" reported owners of the company by the name of "Matt". No resolution or even compassion by this character.

Recently, I was contacted by a man from the Carolinas asking me about my testimonial. I informed him I had no issues other than the one mentioned above and advised him to copyright protect his pending site. I have offered this same message to half a dozen other individuals who have contacted me regarding my testimonial.

I am sorry I ever wrote the testimonial and I am sorry I ever backed the product to those who called me. My conundrum is at the time, I did not have problems.

Skip to the here and now. It seems evident Origin3 has undergone changes or is now out of business. No written or verbal communication to me was ever made to inform me my site status was in any way changing. I found out troubles were brewing only by receiving another call from the gentleman in the Carolinas.

Now I have found my site is hosted by webnethosting.net. Doing a iwhois.com search on them, I was able to get their phone number- 877-503-4678. I advise you do the same if you have been caught up in this mess. They may be able to help you, depending upon your individual circumstance. They were able to help me.

Frankly, I was taken back when I received the call from "Carolina". I tried calling Origin3 only to get a recording that does not allow you to leave a message. I searched my records and found an alternate number which was now disconnected. I sent an email to the "technical support" and never received a direct answer, only a automated "open ticket" computer generated message.

I read through all the complaints and extremely unprofessional rebuttals from the "Brandon" character and with each line I read, my heart sank lower and lower for all those caught up in the mess and especially for those I provided positive referrals. Once again, I am sorry.

Buried about three pages deep in my Google search is a result for a myspace page for a "Chris" who states he is an "owner" of Origin3. The URL is: profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=64837314

Interesting. A couple of days ago, this guy had a picture posted on his myspace page showing two nude guys sitting on the back of a boat clinking their beers together and laughing as two gals were on there knees performing you know what. Now this picture has been removed. How unprofessional is this!

I have to admit, I fell for their photoshopped picture of a seemingly established web design business complete with a Origin3 logo on the front of a nice professional brick building. If I had used my deductive skills, I would have realized at that point they were not what they claimed to be. Simply, if you only have a suite number within a building, it is not likely your logo will appear over the entry of that building.

Now I find the company of Origin3 is or was run by a bunch of quasi 26 year olds. They are evidently living in a world of skateboards, MTV, Jackass, and all things related to the current trend of the "me" generation. Life has not caught up to them yet, but those of us who have been around long enough know, bad Karma will get them.

My advice, stay clear from these chaps. They are no good. Do your research and find a company that is really established and truly professional. I hope there is restitution for those who have been burned.

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Details not so accurate...

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, July 12, 2008

I just felt I should make a couple quick comments on this whole situation so that those who have been affected by the actions of the leader(s) of this company, and any others who are following the updates, can be better informed as to the sources and true reasons of the majority of the problems at hand. As a foreword, I would suggest that anyone affected by this company in any way, completely move on because your fight will be long and hard (and probably not very fruitful) in finding resolve to all of this.

First of all-

All sales people at Origin3 were on a 100% commission basis. This was their income. Their job was to sell. How those accounts were handled after the sale was the responsibility of management. Also, as regular employees of the company, there was a general feeling that the company wasn't doing well, but no employee would have known that the doors were to close when they did.

Second-

Don't believe a whisper that comes from Russ Burnett's mouth. He is not what you would call a "credible source" for information. I'll leave it at that. Everything that he says about this whole catastrophe is an attempt (whether consciously or not) to redirect blame and consequence. He is the main source of the downfall of the "Origin3 Empire" and the blame lies on non other than he and he alone. Getting him to admit that is another story entirely. I will leave no details to the source of my knowledge as to remain completely anonymous and I hope that you may trust that I was high enough in the company to know that what I have said is fact and true.

Investors did leave this company as well as Matt Jackson. They left because they saw where Russ was leading the company and for no other reason. Matt was more or less forced out slowly actually. And as an investor, would you want to invest in a company (that you haven't signed a contract with yet) when you saw that it wasn't going to last no matter how much money it had? Didn't think so.

I hope that this at least will clear the names of the employees of the company, and even the various owners of the company. All of these other people are good-willed people who got stuck in a not so good situation. All losses of this kind can be written off. The losses that come from lost potential business will just have to serve as a reminder for future business dealings. Get everything in writing. Know your designer. Do your due diligence.

Thank you for your time to read this. Hopefully it helps.

Web site designer shuts doors, leaving jobs undone, flawed By Tom Harvey The Salt Lake Tribune Article Last Updated: 01/14/2008 11:41:41 PM MST

A South Salt Lake company has closed its doors, leaving customers coast-to-coast angry and out of thousands of dollars they paid up-front for Web site designs they say never materialized or were seriously flawed. In November, Origin 3 at 670 E. 3900 South stopped responding to complaints registered with the Better Business Bureau. Around Dec. 22, after a number of complaints about failure to deliver promised Web design services, the company shut its doors, its employees left and customers say phone calls and e-mails weren't being answered. Co-owner Russell Scott Burnett II, of Herriman, said Monday the company failed after majority owner Matthew Allan Jackson, of Herriman, walked out and an investor stopped making promised payments in December. "It broke us," Burnett said, saying he had sold personal property to raise money to pay employees and customers. Although the company's Web site makes no reference to the Origin 3's problems or its efforts to settle accounts, Burnett said he was working with a new investor who was putting money into company accounts to pay back customers. He also said co-owner Christopher Shaun Symond, of West Jordan, and several former employees were working to finish Web designs on about 90 active accounts. Cathy Craig, of Wildomar, Calif., said that on Dec. 18 she paid $6,140 through a credit card for a redesign of a --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Advertisement------------------- Web site the company had previously created for her fitness instructor business. A few days later, an employee who had left Origin 3 called her on his own to say employees had been laid off on Dec. 21, the company was closing down and that she should try to get her money back. Now, she's angry that the salesperson took her money just days before the company shut down, and took down her Web site. "Obviously he knew his company was going to close," she said. "You don't out of the blue on a Friday say, 'I've had it, I'm closing,' and take money two days before." Burnett confirmed Craig had made the payment but said that without examining customer records, he could not say why the company accepted payments just days before it went out of business. He said customers who request a refund from their credit card companies will have payments returned as money is put into the company's bank account. Burnett said he was speaking on behalf of Symond. Jackson did not return two messages left on his cell phone. Jane Driggs, CEO of the Better Business Bureau of Salt Lake City, said the organization had received 20 complaints about Origin 3. She said the company had been responding to the bureau until the end of November, "then they just stopped." Barbara Widmer, of New York, signed a contract March 28, 2007, for a Web site design for her business that helps people relocate to the Carolinas. It was to be completed within three months. She paid $400 initially, then in May was charged another $400. When her Web site turned out not to be what she ordered, she was given a credit but then was charged another $75 on her credit card. Widmer said the company used four different designers on her account but that what Origin 3 produced "was totally useless," She said the company eventually stopped responding to her queries. "I would e-mail, I would call. I would get nothing." Similar complaints about Origin 3 are posted on two consumer complaint Web sites, (((Redacted))) and www.ripoffreport.com. Burnett said he is able to respond to only about 30 calls a day and that the company is receiving several hundred daily. Burnett said the business has been investigated by the Utah Division of Consumer Protection and given a green light to continue to pay back customers or resolve complaints. Division Director Kevin Olsen said he could not confirm or deny that it had received complaints about Origin 3. "I can say we haven't taken any legal action," Olsen said.
