This place is a total scam... First off, they charge double per kilowatt than FPL, secondly they are trying to tell me I use doulbe the Kilowatts then I used at my old place that was managed by FPL, when my new place is only 100 sq feet larger, PLUS their Kilowatt reading doesn't even include my air conditioner, they actually bill that seperatly and at a DIFFERENT, even HIGHER rate per Kilowatt. When I called customer care to ask about this and how its possible I am using doulbe the Kilowatts even though I have roughly the same sized place minus the air conditioner and now have gas appliances they said, "we'll have to have somebody call you back". I'm sure that will happen! To date, I have no answer from them and am stuck with a $750 power bill. My bill only went over $100 ONCE at my old place covered by FPL. Seriously OUC??????

I didn't know electric companies billed by square footage...

What a strange method for determining what power you use. Billing by square footage. Go figure.
My power company uses a "revenue grade" meter and charges their amount as KWH x Rate and when I go over 500kwh in the summer all usage over the 500 kwh is charged at KWH x double rate.
They can check your meter, but I'm betting it won't be off much, if at all.
Turning off those MJ grow lights in the basement, should help.
