I received a letter in Feb. 2004 with an offer to settle an account that had been already paid. They wanted $332.74 which they claimed was only 85% of the 391.46 I supposedly owed the Franklin Mint. I paid Gulf State Credit almost a year ago for this "bogus" debt.I contested the debt in writing and assumed the mattter was taken care of. I just found out that it is now on my credit report.
I tried to contact the Franklin Mint and was unable to talk to a "real person". I left a message, but of course I have not heard from them. The collection agency I had paid was Gulf State Credit who is now OSI. The funny thing is that I paid the franklin mint for the merchandise I upon it's arrival and only paid the collection agency in order to refinance my house. I think this is a huge scam, a big ripoff and they seem to be getting away with it.
