Palisades Collections OSI Portfolio Services ripoff Duluth Georgia

Pallisades Collections Inc never attempted to collect an alleged past due account I apparantly have with AT&T. I had no ideal of any of this until I was denied an auto loan and checked my credit report with Equifax. Sure enough, a past due amount of $69 showed up referencing an AT&T account.

Apparantly ATT turned the account over to Palisades who outsourced to OSI. After calling the 800-425-0006 number and getting nothing but an earache, I went directly to ATT who is in the process of sending me billing information on the account. Apparantly the past due amount was from an account I closed with them in 1999, which to my knowledge was paid in full.

I don't understand why I'm first finding out about a past due amount on an account that's been closed for five years and I surely don't understand how Palisades Collections can report it on my credit report before even attempting to contact me and collect.
