I had just graduated from basic training (air force). I was at the mall and this old man at a labtop stand suckered me into buying a labtop.. it was 67$ every pay period, and I did an allotment on it.. I thought I was getting a good deal.. I had seen the computer before for less than 1000$
So I did all the paperwork and then when I got back to my squadron I looked at the receipt and it had read at the bottom 2999$ with 18.99 annual interest.. by the time I pay for this labtop I would have spent 5300$ on it. I tried contacting the man from the number on the receipt and it was a dead number and that's when I realized I had been seriously ripped off. I was very naive jjust coming out of basic training with a good amount of money.
the sad thing is that I am fighting for this country and people do this.. I was in uniform also. The part that sickens me is that I don't even have this labtop anymore.. I sold it to a friend for 500$ because I wasnot only disgusted but it would play any of the games the man told me it would play.. I feel terrible about this and I'm the laughing stock in my squadron because of all of this. Please help

Just to let you know, your laptop is not going to cost you over $5000.00. As you make payments, your principal will lower; therefore, the interest paid will also decrease. Your laptop will actually cost more around $3600.00. Also, you can pay off the computer at any time and avoid future financing fees. For financing at no money down, and no credit check, 1.58% monthly interest and 18.99% annual interest is not a bad deal. In fact you got a good deal. The fact that it didn't play the games is because you didn't do your homework. It was also your responsibility to read through the contract while you were purchasing the computer, not later at home. If you want to get the best deal on a high-price item like a computer, shop around and figure out your options instead of impulse-buying.

Basically I was attacked financially by a man selling labtops.. I think maybe there is something unlawful about this.. I am in the military, so maybe there's something unlawful about attacking military personnel.. all I want to do is cancel the allotment on this labtop that I don't even have anymore.. In the end after 30 months I would have paid over 5000$ on a labtop that is worth only 900$. I am so sickened and depressed every time I think of this.. I mean the labtop is 2999$ but the annual interest would make it a total of 5300$.. I feel like there is nothing I can do to cancel this. I tried calling the number I was given from the reciept and its a dead number, I went back to where I bought the labtop and made a fuss to the man and he threatened to get security on me so I left. I feel so stupid every time I think of it.. I was just so naive.. I wish there was something I can do about this but the guy has my bank account info, my address.. he has everything and I probably signed something that would defend him. I think I need a lawyer, I am willing to do anything.. I just need help, I'm only 19 and I'm already screwed. Isn't there anything at all I can do? There HAS to be something, this guy is doing this to many airmen and many other naive individuals. This crook has to be brought to justice. Please I beg you to help me....
