In the beginning of September this group contacted me about publishing my material for e-books. In the contract it says I have 12 months to decide to terminate everything. Which it was only 1 week when I contacted them to let them know that I didn't want to be part of the "publishing" company anymore. I asked them to remove my material from their website and Amazon website. They said I didn't understand the contract, I told them no the contract says I can terminate within 12 months. They don't have rights to my copyrights. I have my own certificate registration number that I received in the mail back in January 2009. They are scamming writers and this isn't fair, especially if you're already going through stress in your life and under financial hardships. They must be at a stop this isn't fair to people that think their career may be taking off, then it turns out to be a scam.

They say it was in their contract, that they can keep my copyrights, thats what they say, but you know how people do. I paid them their money they claim they spent for my e pub, when I know it's free to do on amazon, apparently the cartoon artwork was worth 600 lol. Fine I paid it. I "misread" contract. Whatever, if money is what they want , then they can get it, you can't take it with you when you die anyway, I'm not stressing it. Authors just make sure you read between the b.s of a contract before you sign with underground publishers. That is all.

Change of heart.

This is an unfortunate situation.
It seems the Author did not have a complete understanding of the project or the agreement she signed. Apparently the decision was made to advise Ms. Hayes to simply "opt out" of the agreement. It also seems the author's advisors were not as knowledgeable of the contractual obligations they advised the author to commit too. Unfortunately these oversights triggered the original RIP OFF report.
As stated in a previous correspondence with the author, Over The Edge continues to act in good faith and is prepared to support Ms. Hayes in her endeavors.

This is a very inaccurate description of events. We are a new company that is all about giving authors fair deals. Ms Hayes was contacted by a lit agent at OTE Matthew Moses about doing an exclusive digital publishing deal with OTE. She signed the agreements and significant money was spent hiring an artist to illustrate and lay out covers for both novels in the deal as well as money was spent formatting the novels into epub files. Now Ms Hayes has decided she doesn't want to be in the deal anymore, I guess she had asked Matthew about using the covers we had paid for, for a physical release. I was not a party to these conversations but it appears that Ms. Hayes now feels because Matthew didn't agree it was fair to let her use the art we had paid for at no cost she now has the right to cancel our agreement and bad mouth us on the internet.
We unlike Ms. Hayes have not gone back on any of our contractual obligations and have dome nothing but try and help an unknown author profit from her work. In what world is it fair or right to just be able to cancel a deal after we have invested money? We are a super ethical and moral bunch of people and I have a sterling reputation from 20+ years in the entertainment business, Ms Hayes we request you respond to our request for a call to discuss te situaton and refrain from this potentially liabous bad mouthing of us on the internet. We would greatly appreciate you retracting this and contacting us to work this out like civil, moral adults.
