My husband and I were unfortunate enough to have our loan bought from GECC the first month we took out the loan! We attempted numberous times to find out where to send our first payment, to no avail. When we finally received our first payment notice it was of course late and had charges attached, the scam begins.........

Since then, we have paid online to avoid their obviously inept administrative system. Somehow, these payments were not credited in a timely manner (surprise, surprise). Our next step was direct transfer to Ocwen. Our financial institution shows the monies being sent directly to Ocwen, an Ocwen employee accepting the overnighted package with a signature, yet they still deny having the paymnent! The money is not in our bank and our bank has confirmed receipt by Ocwen, the plot thickens...........

After reading the barrage of derogatory information regarding the less than honest business practices of Ocwen, I am at a loss as to why they have been allowed to continue as Bank, loan servicing companie etc., are strictly monitored by the Federal Government, or are they?

Perhaps it time to find out which division of our Federal Governement is looking out for us and demand some answers!

I Hear You

AUTHOR: Courtney - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 14, 2006

Hi, Deann. I could not be more sympathetic. My husband and I had our loan bought by Ocwen from Sebring Capital the month after we bought our home (Dec 1, 2005). I had never heard of Ocwen, and didn't think much of it. My mom said that this happens frequently, and that her loan had been bought out a few times over her 30 year mortgage. I just shrugged it off... until I looked them up on this site.

The first payment I sent to Ocwen was February 1. Per some (excellent) advice I received on this site, I mailed it Certified Mail, RRR, to their PHYSICAL address, not the PO Box they listed. I also used 2 USPS money orders, in 2 envelopes, as I have two seperate loans. So far so good. Then I get a call from them; it was automated and told me to call them back. It turned out that they only wanted me to hear a recording about the tax forms being sent out, but out of curiosity, I decided to check and make sure they had gotten my payment. I waited for a customer service rep. When they came on the line, the lady (with a heavy Indian accent) tells me that I am not on the loan. Um, yes I am. So I patiently tell her that both my husband and myself were borrowers, and to please check again. She sighs rudely and tells me again that only my husband is on the loan, and that they can't talk to me. Being pregnant and hormonal, I impatiently tell her that YES I am on the loan, and I want to know if they received my payment. She tells me that my husband is going to have to call and authorize them to talk to me; understandably, I nearly blew a gasket. She says that since they had just bought out the loan, they "may not have all the paperwork". So I asked her HOW they had my husband's info, then, since both our names are on the loans. Surprise! She didn't answer. I called my husband at work and asked him to call and "authorize" me.

I called back a few minutes later, and got someone who actually had a somewhat decent command of the English language. When I gave him my account number, he said that it was the wrong one, and the number I gave him had two different names (not ours) and a completely different property address! WTF? Then he looks me up by my SSN. Lo and behold, no payment received. I had the return receipt in my hand, signed for, and the delivery confirmation from USPS on my computer screen. He tells me he would "mark my account" that the payment had been sent. Nice try. I said, NO sir, I didn't just "send" it; YOU signed for it. He said again that he would note my account. I told him, that's odd; I see here that you signed for it and the money orders were cashed on 2/4. I read him the numbers on my money order receipts; still nothing. I said, gee, I'd better call the post office and see what's going on here. Lo and behold, he tells me, oh, I see the payment here. I must have overlooked it. HA! I bet. Then he encourages me from now on to make my payments online with a check. Riiiight. So you can say you never got it? Thank you, no. Then he starts telling me to refinance. After two months? I was curious, so I asked him what the benefits to this would be (I had no intention of actually doing it). He says that our interest rate is 5.5 and that we could lower that if we refinance. I'm pretty happy with that rate so I told him, no, thank you. He keeps on with it. To shut him up, I told him I would ask my husband and thanked him for his time.

Terribly sorry for droning on, but my point is that you REALLY have to keep on your toes with these people. I have copies of my money orders, the receipts, the return receipt postcard, the printout from USPS.com showing delivery confirmation, and the receipt from the post office, as well as the names of who I talked to, all in a file. I know that sounds obssessive, but it seems that is the only way I'm not going to get screwed. PLEASE do yourself a favor and DO NOT pay online or by phone. I'm not normally an anal gal, but I am when it comes to these nutjobs. ALWAYS mail by Registered, Certified or even better, overnight mail, RRR with Delivery confirmation. Hell, send your payment by courier if you have to, but MAKE SURE SOMEONE signs for it; sadly, it's your only option. Just so you have the right address, I sent my payment to:

12650 Ingenuity Drive
Orlando, FL 32878-5055

GOOD LUCK, and keep me posted.

It was once the responsibility of the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS) AKA: Ole Toothless Stinky.

You may be able to guess from their AKA just how effective and/or aggressive they were in doing thier job. To make a long story short the only agencies that I have found to be of any use what so ever are the honest and hard working ones listed below:

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.

Get the idea. If any one here was lucky enough find any agency that was truly helpful please share.
