Pace 2000 Builders ripoff $13,053 bill at closing unsigned work orders Port St. Lucie Florida

After our home was finished by Pace, we were presented a bill for over $13,000 for items not covered in our contract. During the building processs, we were never informed of the additional costs and were very shocked.

We negotiated the final bill down to $11,167.53 and had to get a loan to pay the builder. After we moved in, we were never given any warranty papers, and have since had to pay for roof repairs-an item which is covered under a new home warranty. The repair cost was $1500. We later discovered other homeowners who built with Pace had received bills as we had at closing, when a letter came in the mail from a local couple discribing similar circumstances. We were not informed that by law, revised work orders (increased expenses)must be signed and approved by the homeowner before commencement.

As this letter stated, Pace was regularly and unlawfully practicing unapproved work. After several attempts, the author of this letter never returned any correspondence and most likely settled out of court with Pace. It is 3 years since and we are still surprised Pace is in business!
