Pacific Financial Inc, North American Price Pool, Alside Inc., Associated Materials Inc, Luary Lewis, Mark Walker, Ms Joy Salas Mail scam-Pacific Financial Inc & Alside Inc as Division of Associated Material Inc. of the North American Prize Pool Mississauga Ontario Canada

I received a letter from Pacific Financia Inc located at 1845 Argentina Road, Mississauga Ontario L5N 1P9 with a title "SUBJECT: AWARD CLAIM FINAL NOTIFICATION". This letter is from a Luary Lewis, Secretary. In the letter it says "This is to inform you of the release of the North American Price Pool as sponsored by a group of companies in North America. Your name attached to the sweepstekes number ........, which consequently won a sweepstake in the 2nd category...." It goes on to tell me that the lump sum of US$100,000.00 USD in cash ....selected through a computer ballot system...you are required to call our office and speak to our Director MR. Mark Walker...Non residential tax of US$3,150.00 is required and we hereby enclose a check of US$4,550.00 to enable ....proceed to your bank and make a deposit. Immedidiately this check clears...Ms Joy Salas...Send it by Money gram money transfer and after sending the money you should contact Mr Mark Walker...Tel: 1 905 781 3960 ...Luary Lewis.

The bank issuing the check is national City Bank, Ashland, OH. The account name is Alside Inc, P.O BOX 2010, AKRON, OHIO 44309 A DIVISION OF ASSOCIATED MATERIALS INCORPORATED.

I have checked Alside and that is indeed their address and they are a division of Associated Materials Inc. I also checked out National City Bank. They do have a branch in Ashland, OH. The check shows the "check number" first, then the routing number, and finally what is suppose to be the account number. The routing number, which is where the check number would be on a ligitimate check, is indeed the routing number for a branch of National City Bank in Cleveland, OH 44135 (LOC 01-5138).

The authors of this scam took some care in their attempts to make this appear to be as ligitimate as possible.
