Pacific Lottery Corporation, Promotional Sweepstakes Lottery, Scam, Counterfeit Check, Moneygram Wire Transfer, Chris Eggleton, Mrs. Pamela Robinson, Calgary, Alberta Canada

I also received a letter, stating I had won the 2008 promotional sweepstakes lottery held on June 28th. It starts off saying, we have made many unsuccessful attempts to contact you regarding this winning. You are entitled to the sum of $248,000.00 US dollars.They also sent a check in the ammount of $4955.00 to pay for the taxes, which are $3975.00. The letter says do not try to cash this check, until contacting claim agent, Mrs. Pamela Robinson for further clarification and instructions. Then they wanted a Moneygram from Wal-Mart sent to them.

I never called the number on the letter I did some research first and found out that this scam has happened to other people. How the scam works is they want you to cash and deposit the check into your bank account and and then send them the tax money via Moneygram. Since it is a bad check it will bounce and you end up being responsible to pay the bank back that $3975.00


I believe they may go by other names as well. Pacific Lottery Corporation is a real company and they are aware of this scam they have posted a fraud advisory on their website. http://www.pacificlottery.ca/lottery_fraud_protection_advisory.php

The letter i got is the same exact letter with the same exact ticket serial numbers. The only thing different is the check. It is from a different bank.
