Answered a radio advertisement for auditions for children to "Be on a show like Hannah Montana, etc. Only 200 auditons available. We call and are given a time to come. We arrive and there are several thousand, that should have been my first clue. My daughter auditions and we recieve a call back the next day... Come and reaudtion. My daughter is accepted into program, must pay $5900.00 immediatly. Paid for a one year program for my now very excited daughter. Attend 3 (1 per month) classes and are now informed that the owner just filed bankruptcy and we are out the money we paid.
I just found my reciept and called the # on it, and the phone was answered by a gal stating "John Robert Powers"!!!! I am dumbfounded.. I believe that we were duped..... So many things did not add up... We were ripped off. Can someone help us fight this injustice? I would never have paid and allowed my daughter to attend If I had known that this was another John Robert Powers.
Will we recoup the money that we paid?

The man's name who owns PMAA is Stanley Robinson, and you should file with the Attorney General.
I think its interesting you said "you would never have let your daughter attend if you knew it was JRP. You spent six thousand dollars of classes from a man in a hotel, for twelve training sessions and six auditions. If you spent six thousand dollars with JRP, who has been in business for years and years, and has a huge office, you would have had weekly classes for three years and monthly auditions for life.
You made a very bad decision, and Mr. Robinson is a crook, thats why he was kicked out of JRP.

Apparently this firm has 10 schools across the country, some of which paid money and have never recieved services. The FBI should be contacted in that case. The rest of us only have recourse to sue. We in Seattle, are doing just that.
We believe that the owner has recieved over 12 million dollars from familes across the country.
These are the states where we believe "auditions" were held and "schools" started. Washington, California, New Mexico, Nevada, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Pennsylvania, etc...
