STAY IN THE PALACE RESORT HOTELS BY ALL MEANS BUT DONT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BUY INTO THE MEMBERSHIP!!!!

On our honeymoon Dec '05 we spent 5 days in Aventura Spa Palace Resorts, Cancun, we thought it was paradise! however after a very high pressured meeting & lots of promises of cheap direct flights from Ireland & discounted high class hotels world-wide my immediate thoughts were 'too good to be wholesome!'

I left my husband in the meeting alone - big mistake! last thing I said was 'don't buy this!' we paid I think apx 12,000 euro for 50 weeks over an unlimited time this was to include a swap programme for other hotels in europe (ie closer to home).

On trying to swap some of our weeks I found that none of the hotels were in good locations - ie they were all outside the cities or main resorts and the dates I applied for 12-18mths in advance were unavailable! We found that there were no direct flights available from Dublin & there wasn't even discount available for the UK mainland flights!

Over the next 10 months after numerous emails, letters, faxes & phone calls we decided to go in person with the children, we went to Moon Palace for 1 week in October '06 - again we found no fault with the hotel standards but demanded a meeting with a customer services manager.

I showed copies of emails, letters etc & explained our issues, she promised to come back to us before we left - this suprisingly didn't happen!!! I chased her up again before we left & she promised that she had passed it on & that it would get sorted - it didn't!

I tried over & over again to cancel our membership & get our money back but the monthly payments kept coming out of our credit card which we couldn't stop until the card was eventually renewed and I refused to give Palace the new expiry date.

Now, 2 years on & countless communications with Palace Resorts staff which they completely ignore totally, I am at my wits end to find out how we can recoup our hard earned money. Can someone please give me so pointers for this?

DO NOT BE TAKEN IN BY THESE PEOPLES HARD SELL - YOU WILL DEFINATLEY REGRET IT!!!

It is always best to hire someone skilled to do so, unfortunately in most cases these companies dedicated to cancel timeshares usually cheat for the second time to their customers since they are vulnerable and desperate. If you are thinking of hiring them you just have to make sure you do not have to make any payment upfront ... I found these articles that speak precisely about this, you should read them, that might help you to resolve many doubts:

Palace Resort Timeshare Scam

AUTHOR: ThomasR - ()

A little about Palace. I bought a Palace timeshare membership 10 years ago and not long after my sister bought one as well. We actually have marketed our weeks over the internet fair success and feel we've come out pretty well. However, lately I've been getting a very bad feeling about Palace. They have made fraudulent charges on our guests credit cards. One guest was charged twice. Another called to cancel her reservation and instead of processing a REFUND, they charged her credit card again.

Getting resolutions to these problems can take MONTHS. We're still fighting a charge that was made in January. Recently I had someone who called to cancel their reservation and the guest was told Palace will not refund their money. Palace has always had a refund policy, but evidently they have changed it and not advised members. I'm wondering if Palace is nothing but a house of cards about to fall in. Terrible way to treat your members!
