Parkland Hospital Deceitful billing practices Dallas Texas

In August of 2014 I was taken for evaluation at Parkland Hospital. I told all parties involved in the transaction (Dallas Police preferring to take me to Parkland) that I am a federal employee with department of defense and wish to be taken to a hospital of my choice which is in-network with my insurance if I was going to foot the bill for this evaluation. The police told me that Parkland would bill the Police Department and I would pay nothing. At the end of the stay, Parkland did not bill the Police Department but instead my personal insurance, which of course denied a large portion ($1,600) of the claim and Parkland sent me to collections. I have asked for any paperwork consenting to the medical treatment, justifications of cost, names of the officers who drove me, etc, all to no avail. Parkland needs to drop this debt and assign the debt to dallas police department. It is a shame that the police and hospital are in bed together to screw over the patient and general public.
