Don't buy a car at Patrick, Patrick BMW complaints, Patrick BMW problems

Shopping over the phone, I found a card from Patrick BMW. Having had my car appraised by Carmax 6 days earlier and another BMW dealership 5 days earlier, the salesman, David Grauer told me that there "would be no problem" in meeting the trade in value value that Carmax and the other deal gave me. He took a deposit and told me to come in that Saturday and the whole deal would take 45 minutes.

Naively believing him, I said yes and brought my four year old with me. He had me SIGN MY TITLE OVER, FILL OUT AND SIGN A PURCHASE AGREEMENT AND GIVE HIM A CERTIFIED CHECK. HE RETURNED AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES AND SAID SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $1,000 MORE THAN WHAT WE AGREED BECAUSE THEY FOUND DAMAGE THAT CARMAX HAD NOT. By then it had been over 1 1/2 hours. My child was now bored, hungry and crying. I had already signed my title over, and it was my only day off of the week. In a panic I agreed to pay $500 more.

I now beleive that this was all set up. My written complaints to the Sales Manager, Tim Gadomski and the GM of Patrick Cars, John Leanardi went unanswered until I filed a complaint with the BBB. Mr. Gadomski ignored my accusation that they had me sign over the title and fill out all of the paper work before renegotiating the price and instead said(direct quotes from his BBB reponse):

"I wish Mr. Park would have just left the store and purchased somewhere else. It's really to bad that there's no such thing as a Better Customer Bureau so we could file a complaint against Mr. Park. One things forsure, I am not refunding Mr. Park one red cent!"

Yeah, I bet he regrets selling me the car. Can't you just sense the customer friendliness in his words? What do you think this guy or Patrick BMW will do for you if you had a problem?

BMW USA was no help. They said that all of the dealers are independent.

I retract my statement

As a follow-up to my posting on January 11, 2005 regarding Patrick BMW, while I was not pleased at the increase in the purchase price of my vehicle based upon the dealership's appraisal of my trade-in, I retract my statement that the increase in the purchase price of my vehicle was the result of any "set up" by Patrick BMW.
