Bought a new car from dealer on 9/20/07. Salesman said everything was good as far as credit and downpayment, gave them $1000 cash, signed the contract drove it that day. Received a few calls from dealer and bank 2 weeks later saying they needed some paperwork verifying employment and so forth. I fax both parties all requested documents. About 2 weeks later I call to check on things after hearing nothing from these guys at all. Finance manager Tom says everything is ok he is still working with the bank tells me not to worry I am basically driving a free rental car. I gave them $1000 so the word free doesn't apply and I bought a car, not renting it from them. So 45 days comes when the first payment is due, I call and cannot get a hold of anyone and leave messages that are never returned. A few more days goes by and they are saying nothing at all. I then call and finally get a hold of Tom and he says he tried to call me 20 times and I never get back to them. He says he cannot get the deal financed and I have to bring the car back or they will repo it. I read a report just like my situation on here, I do not believe they will give me my money back, this finance manager is so shady. Completely rude saying he 'doesn't have time for me' he has deals to get financed. NO time for me? I gave them cash they want to give me a check, how do I trust this is a legit check? They are trying to keep the money and find the car and keep that too. Complete scum, no customer service whatsoever, there is no way this is a legit business practice. I want my money back!!!!!

Some auto dealers will "sign and roll" just about anyone. In my opinion, it isnt good business practice, but if it is waht the customer wants and the dealer wont do it, the customer will find a dealer who will do it. They would have tried as hard as possible to get a bank to hang your loan, as that is the only way they can turn a profit from this situation. You never actually bought the car, by the way. They would have had you sign a conditional delivery form (conditional on a bank accepting it).

A bank did not accept your loan. You do indeed have to return the car. If you dont, they can keep part, if not all of your down payment money. It says so in the conditional delivery form you signed.

It sounds like they are tryign to give back your money (in the form of a check). What's wrong with that? Take your money back and return the car. You would have driven it for 1.5 months for free. Doesnt sound like much of a rip off to me.
