My son had cancer and was having to miss a lot of work for his chemo treatments he spent 5 days in hosiptal every 3rd week and on the weeks out he went to doc.s office for one short chemo treatment once a week. He had a fmla leave signed by doctor. But also was worded that Matt.(his name) would only be able to work as felt he could. And only reason the doc did that for him was because Matt. Needed to work some to keep his insurance paid. So he did work every time he could on weeks out of hospital. Enough to pay the insurance.


Anyways as soon as his chemo was over. But(mind you hes not out of the woods) 2 weeks later they layed him off. Although because I work there I know why they did. Because they were getting rid of the ones who have missed a lot of work. Of course they claim that is not why but.... It has been done before. And I was afraid it would happen to him and I was right. Also If that's not why then what I would like to know is how they decided on him being one layed off. You know what I mean.? Well I am his mom I work there too and I am pissed off about it. I know how they are and of course they are gonna deny that being the reason.but in having said that.

Now he is told his Insurance was dead the day they layed him off. And for petes sake anyone knows if anyone needed to keep Insurance it would be him with cancer and all. And yes they will offer him cobra in it's place but we or he can not afford that kind of insurance we are told it will be $360.00 a month. That would be 2 weeks of unemployment. So since we can't afford that even if he gets another job , he will have to wait 3 months to get insurance again. And then when it comes to cancer it will be considered preexisting. Is there any kind of legal help we are eligible for in this situation?
