This is a report about the Paul Simon Chicago Job Corps Center, a program supposedly run by the Federal government U.S. Dept. of Labor.

This program promised anyone from the ages of 16-24 with opportunities to gain valuable job and employability skills. There are several centers nation wide, including Hawaii and Alaska.

Who get's caught up in this action? Who benifits from this opportunity?

No one, not even the government themselves. How does the US Government get ripped off?

They apparently put little or no effort into this great idea of theirs. They just hand out money to Management and training Corporation, and other people they've sold contracts to allowing them to operate the centers for the Government.

The vocational/trade classrooms, (Information Technology, Computer Service Technology, and etc) along with the living quarters have substandard facilities. Such as broken equipments, unsanitary dormitories and cafeteria (such as finding mice under the fryer with holes in them). There are no places decent enough to study, by which I mean, there are no requirements to the student except to simply show up each day.

That's right! The students can live there, have their food, lodging, and personal expenses, includig cigarettes, paid for 100% by Uncle Sam; all while accomplishing absolutely nothing. Overall, the system allows them to do this for up to two years plus another year if they choose to and is accepted to attend any of the Chicago City Community Colleges.

Secondly, the place has to be guarded with an iron fist, because (1) the Dept. of Justice abuses the Job Corps program by sending juvenile delinquents there instead of juvenile detention centers. Meaning that the people there who comes, of their own free will, are roomming with drug dealers, thieves, you name it. (2) Since the contracting companies receive money from the govt. as long as you reside there, they make up all kinds of rules.

For example, if you decide to leave, they don't cover any of your traveling expenses home, effectively stranding you there. Then, they go so far as to tellingl you when you are allowed to leave the grounds. In order for you to leave the grounds you must get a "day pass" or a "weekend pass or they can refuse to give you a pass for any reason. The more control they have over you, you are treated as sub human scum!

Taxpayers are pouring in over billions of dollars per year for these programs, so think about it! If half of that went for scholarships for college students to further their education and try to close up the gap between the rich and the poor, they could really help strengthen our society and still have over $500,000,000 left to spend on something else.

If they spent it on the debts in America, maybe we could have a stronger nation and be out of the debt sooner. If the put it back into Social Security, maybe my generation would be able to have some Social Security like it was originally intended.

Job Corps' intention was to lend a hand to those who are in need of support to better themselves; however, it is now run by a bunch of con artists out to steal your money, defraud the government and the people that are interested in bettering themselves.

As I conclude, I strongly advise that if you're still in Job Corps, you should get out as soon as possible or if you're thinking about going there, do reconsider. By means this is an economical cancer.

Paul Simon is the best

First off, let me say that Paul Simon Chicago Job Corp is not a rip off because we didn't pay to get in here. It's a place for people of low income that need a second chance at changing their lives. Paul Simon is the best thing that ever happened to me. There are students in Job Corp that do make mistakes but we know the risks and the rules. There have been times where they have restricted us from doing  certain things but they do that to keep us safe.

Another thing, if you're going to write a report make sure you have your information right because we don't need day passes unless your a minor, they don't tell us when we can and can not leave, they do not pay for are cigarettes, and the Department of Labor said that we're the cleanest campus in the state. And please, if you're going to make a negative report make sure you check your spelling because it's all messed up. If anything you need to come to Job Corp and take up a English class or maybe an English Language Learning course.

Like i said before, Job Corp is the best thing that ever happened to me and i don't appreciate you talking about us like that. Maybe you should come to the tour on Friday's at 10 and really see how great Paul Simon Chicago Job Corps is.
