About two weeks ago i was going through my school's website for a job. I finally found something that seemed like it would help me. The job ad said, computer sales, $10.00an hour plus bonuses. Right away I contacted the company to see if they were still hiring. They told me that they didn't have any applications, but I could turn in my resume. So I printed up a resume and dropped it off on a Thursday.

I called Pc Outlet on Monday, to see how the process was going, they told me the owner would have to look at my resume and they would call me back. So the owner called me back and we set up an interview on Thursday the 3rd of March at 2:30. Eveything seemed cool, all the interview questions were typical except one question he asked do you live alone? I thought that was really weird and inappropriate. He then told me that the pay was $9.00 an hour, while in the ad it stated $10.00 an hour. So I thought well I need a job right now and just kinda bit the bullet.

So I went home worked on some homework and a little after six the owner called me to let me know I was hired and wanted to know if I could work tomorrow which would be Friday the 4th. I asked him if I could call him back so I could rearrange my other job schedule, to meet his needs. I called him back telling him yes I could work.

So I worked a nine to five shift, slowly learning a little of everything, a few other strange occurrences happened, in which I am ashamed to talk about unless anyone that can help me contacts me.

Thursday the 10th of March rolls around. It was my day off, all I did was go to school I came home around 4:00pm. My lower stomach began to hurt, like a sharp pain. It was hard to walk, so I had to take my time walking around the house. My fianc came home and made me dinner. We stayed up till midnight, and he just had enough, of seeing me in pain, so he took me to the emergency room, I could barley walk. The nurse put me on an IV and gave me a bunch medicine to kill the pain and nausea, I took a few x-rays then they had me drink some tonic that they needed in order to see my insides. So an hour and a half later they found out that I have a large cyst on my ovary. We returned home around 6 in the morning I was knocked out completely from all the drugs they put in the IV. So later my fianc called my job and told them, he said they wanted me to call back when I awake.

So I woke up at 7pm on Friday the 11th and I called and then I was told to call the owner ands explain to him what happened. So I called him on his mobile phone and as I told him the same story that I am telling you all, I was rudely interrupted with ----I'm going to have to terminate you then I said what, why because I was in the hospital I have all the papers to prove it? and then he said, we can't have people like you I feel like I have been humiliated and I am not being treated fairly I was in the emergemcy room for heavens sake! Sooo I would like to tell everyone out there that not only are their products computers/notebooks bad and typically defective so is the owner, a defective human being with no empathy for others. Please do not buy or apply to this company all you will be doing is supporting a careless person.

Great Place to Work

AUTHOR: Kl12279 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, July 04, 2008

I was so shocked to read this report! It doesn't sound like the owner I worked for at all. I started when Discount Electronics began in 03 until I moved out of state in 04. Working there was probably one of the best jobs I've had. They started pay out at a decent rate and I received a couple of raises since starting. The atmosphere was laid back, but yet everyone was still efficient, which made happy employees and I believe, in turn, happy customers. The owner was a great guy and treated everybody with respect and I can't just imagine being asked if an applicant lived alone and how that would come into play. I was there for over a year, so I feel comfortable that what I observed was correct.

As far as the quality of products, many items were refurbished, yes, but as any technical savvy person will tell you, most errors occur between the chair and the keyboard.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience there and in the emergency room, perhaps there are other reasons for the quick termination that are not entirely apparent, but valid. Sorry for the cliche, but things always happen for a reason.
