PDX Enterprise Solutions Representative John County approached our business regarding a check cashing program. He continued to pressure us to accept this program which allowed us to take a check for the partial payment of merchandise, and then be paid for the entire amount of the sale by a third party which would then be responsible for collecting the remaining payments from the consumer via their checking account. We finally agreed and signed the paperwork. After the paperwork was signed, the rep came back and said we had to have a $1500 "reserve" in order to use the program. We said no. We also received credit card equipment which John County was supposed to set up and train us on. He continued to tell us that he would "take care of" the $1500 reserve, and we should start using the program. We continued to tell him no, and finally said we didn't want any part of it, as he kept dodging the reserve issue. He said he would cancel everything, and then dropped off the face of the earth. He no longer answers phone calls or texts. Money started coming out of our checking account for this equipment lease which we have also found out could have been free. I have dealt with First Data Global Leasing, the company charging our checking account, and Secure Payment Systems, the company that would have been processing the transactions. Secure Payment Systems has cancelled everything and said the only way to cancel the lease is through PDX. I have been in touch with PDX, Michael Hass, and he maintains, even though this was his representative that did this, that he can do NOTHING about this. He can't cancel the lease, only his representative, who he has since terminated, can cancel the lease, and the only way it can be cancelled is if the commission is repaid by the representative, John County. So, now I'm paying $5000 for equipment that is essentially useless and nobody can do anything about it???????? PDX has the ability to do something about this, I was told by John County's wife that Mr. Hass told her to tell us that nothing could be done and we should just start using the program. No way. We want nothing to do with PDX.

It Just Keeps Getting Worse

Yestereday, after talking with First Data Global Leasing regarding where the lease came from, they gave me the number to Priority Payment Systems. I wasn't aware that they were in the mix here, but apparently, Mr. County also tried to switch our credit card processing company without our knowledge!!! When I called Priority payment systems to find out what their role was in this mess, they said they didn't know anything about Secure Payment Systems (the company that was going to do the check cashing transactions and I have already cancelled), but they were our NEW CREDIT CARD PROCESSING COMPANY! How can that be???? We're with Intuit and have a 4 year commitment to them. When I relayed that information to their representative, he said we were now signed up with them also, and also being billed by them. Priority Payment Systems asked if I had given John County copies of our credit card statements, and I said yes, that he had said he needed them to verify the amount of business we did each month. Evidently, he used them to sign us up (and I'm sure collect commission) with Priority Payment Systems. I cannot tell you my level of frustration with this mess, and the total lack of responsibility that PDX is assuming. This is (was) their representative that did this!!!!!!!!!!!

We are sympathetic; however,

1. As we previous explained, there is no free equipment for this program. The equipment she references is only for credit card processing. Elaine signed up for a consumer financing program (Express Retail Financing) and that program requires specialized and expensive equipment.
2. Through the BBB, Elaine's desired resolution is: "All we want is this lease cancelled. I do not think I should have to pay $104.95 a month for the next 4 years for equipment we're not using and will not be using". PDX should not have to cover expenses incurred by this merchant changing her mind.
3. This is clearly buyers remorse; however, she signed contracts and completed a verbal verification call with the leasing company. Everything was disclosed and that was her opportunity to say no thank you, not 2+ months later.
4. If Elaine pays back the $3,500+ commission earned, plus the $50 penalty to the leasing company, she can get out of the lease; however, she does not want to do that, she wants to take no responsibility for her actions and for a signed and verified contract. PDX will not be financing merchants who desire to do damage to us.
5. We entered into a good faith relationship with this merchant. We were paid a commission by the leasing company, the commission was paid to the agent. Now she has changed her mind and is upset because she can not break the lease contract. Nevertheless, the lease is transferable and another merchant can assume the payments.
Although we are sympathetic towards this merchant and want to do everything we can to bring a positive closure to the issue, again we reiterate our offer to help her use the services to grow her business as so many of our clients have done.

It all goes back to PDX
AUTHOR: Elaine - (United States of America)

I have spent the morning on the phone, once again, with Secure Payment Systems. This is the company that PDX contacted to process our transactions. In talking with their representative, he informed me that everything originated with PDX. He told me the only person that can cancel this lease is PDX. They have no control as they were not the originators of the paperwork.
And as far as why did it take me so long? The PDX representative kept telling us, until he fell off the face of the earth, that he was going to take care of everything for us. Then, he stopped answering his phone and text messages. That's when I had to start tracking everything down to try and stop this mess.
PDX is ultimately responsible. It was their representative that misrepresented the program, lied to us about being able to "take care of" the reserve, and then left us in the lurch. We signed the paperwork, and then he came back to us to tell us he had to had a $1500 reserve. When we said no, he kept telling us it would be taken care of, but it wasn't. Then, he was paid his commission, and it evidently didn't matter anymore.
PDX keeps maintaining that their representative (that has been terminated) is the only person that can cancel this lease! How can that be? Isn't PDX ultimately responsible for their representative's behavior? As the originator of the paperwork, why can't they cancel the lease. I was an independent consultant in direct sales for 10 years, and in all that time, the company that I worked for always made things right with the customer and then went after the representative that created the problem.

#1 REBUTTAL Owner of company
Not our contract
AUTHOR: PDX - (United States of America)

A+ Pre Owned Appliances owner Elaine Cooke contacted us about this issue more than 2 months after signing up for the services she mentions with a complaint about the agent in question and the fact she did not want the equipment any longer. Why did she wait this long? Elaine signed contracts with several companies, none were with my company, she completed a verbal verification call for the lease, with the leasing company, and agreed to a non-cancellable lease. There is no free equipment for the program she signed up for. Merchants can only purchase or lease the equipment as it is very expensive and a free terminal is a single purpose piece of equipment only used for card processing, not for the financing service she signed up for. I have offered to help her use the program she signed up for to help her grow her business but she continues to ignore my outreached hand and is only beating the "I want out" drum, which is not in our control. We have requested to the service providers she signed up with to close all accounts; however, the lease is not in our control. I have yet to hear the other side of the story, from the agent, and we do not know if this is a case of he-said-she-said, buyers remorse, or something else. All we know for fact is that Elaine signed contracts, completed a verbal verification call and after 2+ months, now no longer wants to pay for goods/services she agreed to. In any event, given she can not cancel the lease, we want to help her and her company grow and the offer to educate her, promote the service and bring in more revenue to her company, is always there to her. As a result of this situation, we have no desire to continue working with the agent who caused harm to our good name and reputation and to this merchant. We have a zero tolerance for bad agents and will terminate anyone who acts in bad faith or does harm to a merchant, or my company.
