Received a cold call today 13th Jan to my home 'phone number from Scott at Peabody Vacations. He was offering a $3989 holiday for just $989 wow $3000 off!. The holiday was to Orlando, St Augustine, Cocoa Beach and Bahamas staying between 3 & 5 days in each with my family.
Scott already had my home address as well as my phone number but wanted more info e.g. how many in my family and where we'd been on holiday recently. He referred me to their website www.peabodyvacations.com. All I needed to do was to agree to attend a 90 minute presentation about some of the resorts we'd be staying in.
Scott eventually transferred me to his 'manager' who issued me with a long customer reference number and then asked for my MasterCard number to complete the 'today' only offer. After my refusal to give out my number the reservation price eventually reduced to just $1. I still refused.
Checking on the internet I see this scam has already been reported.
Caveat emptor
If it sounds too good to be true - it probably is!

Jeffrey Lies Again

Tell the truth Jeff, you know what you were doing on the $1 charge.
All need to watch the video on Jeffery Hirschkorn and Peabody Vacations.
Make sure your friends and family know that Jeffrey Hirschkorn is a dishonest man and can not be trusted.
DO not buy from him or sell to him and never give out your credit card information to Jeffrey or any of his emplyees. Never work for him.
Poeple like Keith Day do nothing but enable Jeffrey and his crooked partners.

Explanation of Sales Process
AUTHOR: traveler19 - (United States of America)

In an attempt to explain the sales process, our agents work with live data from the major credit companies that we do business with. And, to ensure that we are speaking with the correct individual, we do ask that customer to confirm such information. We are a strong supporter and are fully compliant with all locality laws and regulations that govern our business.
The reason our managers try to work with individuals is to see that they try and take advantage of such great vacation packages. I can give you many examples of people who are real happy with the purchase of a holiday. And, I will do so at the bottom of this report.
The purpose of a $1 is to validate the authenticity of the card if we allow the particular client to do the vacation package as a post-date.
The card is NOT charged until the date authorized and until we ACTUALLY speak with the cardholder to confirm.
Furthermore, our company does not overcharge and does not charge any card without authorization. I challenge anyone who thinks that to allow us to play our DAR (digital audio receipt) which gives us authorization for the sale. This is available for state regulators and credit card companies in case there is a question to the validity of the charge.
And, for those who claim we fight to hold onto money for a particular charge, shame on YOU. We will refund monies on a package if it is within the allotted time frame governed by the law, which in Florida is 15 DAYS from the date of the sale.
We welcome comments to custservice@peabodyvacations.com. And, our company does not offer vacation packages for sale on the condition of a timeshare tour. WE ARE PROHIBITED FROM SUCH!
