We had purchased two Peachtree exterior french doors for our home, ordering them through Menard's. We were assured by the Menard's employee that Peachtree was "high-end." They should be - the Peachtree doors we ordered were $3500 each, nearly twice the cost of the next less-expensive make. We thought we were buying quality. We were in for a rude awakening.

The order was placed just before Thanksgiving, and we were told the three week lead time would get them in by mid-December - well before Christmas. It turned out that the order was pushed back by Peachtree until "just after the New Year," which eventually turned into late January.

Menard's delivery driver showed up at my house - just himself. I was told by the driver that Menard's didn't want to pay 2 people to deliver those heavy doors. So I had to help the poor schlub unload those doors.

The next week I hired a remodeling contractor to install the Peachtree doors. The contractor pointed out some of the deficiencies in the doors - things that were obviously beyond his control. The sliding screen doors were bowed to the point that they would not latch. The slightest breeze will push the screen doors wide open, filling my house with bugs. The doors themselves were slapped together using low-quality wood. There were cracks, splintered edges, and several voids in the wood frames on both doors. The latch handle and lockworks are flimsy and cheap - not at all resembling the robust versions in the store's display models. Some of the screws holding hardware pieces were stripped and coming loose.

I have tried twice to contact Peachtree Doors and Windows, with no response. I called Menard's, and was referred back to Peachtree. They said it wasn't their problem. The department manager at Menard's did state that they have received several calls regarding quality problems with Peachtree Doors and Windows. Wish I had known that earlier, before I plunked down 7 grand.

Stay away from Peachtree Windows and Doors. Even the budget brands are better.
