Cowardly Thieves who rig up internet schemes to steal your money and your private information make me sick!

In my efforts to quickly locate a relative in another state, I came across an internet site that looked pretty authentic (VeriSign and Better Business Bureau symbols in place). Although I was not able to locate this site in my search with the BBB, I went ahead and ordered a people-finder report. After all, it was only $2.95.

To make a long story short, I divulged my personal information, including my credit card information, but never received the report that I was suppose to receive instantly. Now, the thief has my credit card number complete with the security code! I even emailed them, but guess what.........?

I checked my credit card statement, which showed the following information for the company making the transaction: PeopleFinder.com By PL (805) 931-0904 CA & (805) 929-4833. When I checked the numbers in the Reverse Phone Lookup, both numbers were "unpublished or unavailable" numbers in Nipomo, CA. I haven't called them as yet, but I suspect the numbers are either fictitious, or they belong to someone other than this "company."

The name of this "rip-off" site is very similar to another site, which I believe is an authentic one. At least the other site gives you contact information other than an email address.

Lesson learned: Don't give out your private information to websites before checking them out thoroughly, and especially if they don't give you an address and phone number.
