People PC Internet Services Failed to cancel account when told to do so; fraud in advertised charging. Carol Stream Illinois

I called PeoplePC on December 2,2007 and told them I had not used their services in six months, had assumed my account was cancelled previously, wanted my account cancelled immediately and at least the last month's charges refunded. They tried to convince me to remain a customer for three more months at a reduced cost, and I said no I want my account cancelled immediately. The next day there was a refund to my account of $12.45.

Then on the 6th of December I was charged again by PeoplePC, $12.45. When I was able to call and find out what was going on, I was informed that my account is scheduled to be cancelled on the 27th of December, so I was charged for this month. When I explained to her that my account was to be cancelle the previous Sunday, she said she can't do anything so call back Monday. I explained to her that I work too, and don't have time to call back during the week, I work two jobs and have two young children at home and don't have time for the phone calls, especially when I'm on hold for unreasonable amounts of time. She then repeated calling back on Monday, and I asked to speak to a supervisor, because that is who I was able to talk to last weekend and they were able to do something about my account. She said yes, just a minute then forwarded me to a message that said there was no one available, they will be available on Monday, and it hung up. I called back, was on hold for 15 minutes, and when the man answered the phone, I immediately asked to speak to a supervisor, and was on hold for another 30 minutes before I had to hang up so I could go to work.

When I got home from work, I went online to do the live chat and repeated my situation to the man on live chat. He told me the account would be cancelled on the 27th. I told him that that wasn't acceptable, it needs to be cancelled now, you've charged me twice this month, and more than that you're overcharging me. He said yes, your account will be credited the $12.45 and will be cancelled the 27th. I repeated myself, AGAIN, that I wanted my account cancelled IMMEDIATELY, and he finally said yes, it will be cancelled tonight.

I then asked him why it was that when I signed up for PeoplePC, and what their website advertises, it says they charge $10.95/month, yet they have been charging me $12.45/month. I asked this questions about three times before I got an answer, and the answer was that my bank was charging the extra $1.50 a month, it was a checking account fee. I told him no, my bank does not charge me for a checking account, nor does it charge for electronic transactions. The $12.45 was all from PeoplePC Internet Services, it clearly states that on the bank statement. He again said, no PeoplePC charges you $10.95/month, your bank charges the other $1.50. Again I said no, they didn't, the bank statement clearly states it was one transaction, all from PeoplePC Internet Services, not one from PeoplePC and another from my bank. He said he didn't know then, and he would give it to corporate offices, and they will contact me. I have this whole conversation saved if you would like to see it.
