I joined this service four months ago. It requires payment before you can view your matches. I immediately discovered I was going to have a difficult time finding a match in my area. I asked to cancel at that time. My request went unanswered. I searched the website and discovered that it stated if you unable to be matched during your membership period, you can obtain a refund AFTER that period. Now it is after the period and now I am told that refund policy isn't on the site. No, it isn't NOW. They removed it. Probably too many people in the same boat as I am. To top it off, this service is expensive. $99 for three months. My defense is that I stated right after I joined this wasn't going to work for me. The site said I could receive a refund after the membership period. So I did not pursue the refund at that time and took them at their word. Now when I want to exercise my right to the refund, as what was stated on the website, I was denied by "David Johns, Member Services Specialist". He instructed me to do a number of things to obtain a good match that I HAVE ALREADY TRIED and stated so. I subsequently filed a complaint against them with the Better Business Bureau to try to recoup my $99 but to no avail. The complaint has gone UNANSWERED. There are now a number of complaints against this company. It is a lot of hype and unless you live or are willing to travel to a large metropolitan area, this service will not help you find a match, perfect or otherwise. Their customer service is a dis-service. Very bad outfit. Stay away.

It's not all bad, thanks to this report

I joined Perfectmatch.com about four days ago. I (foolishly) did my research after paying them the $99 and discovered Kimberly's report.
I decided to cancel, and got an email from the same David Johns. He tried to talk me out of cancelling, but I wrote the following:
"One way or another, I've decided against personal dating sites altogether. I would like to cancel my membership and would like at least a partial refund.
I should let you know I've now also done my research on you, and have found a couple of "I had to fight like hell to get a refund" stories. One from a woman named Kimberly in Wilmington, North Carolina, in fact. So I think it best to inform you that I'm going to contact Business Bureau should this conversation cease to go the direction I would like. It would be less messy for all of us if we just agreed on my partial refund now."
He responded with a verification of my refund request, in the full amount, within half an hour.
Dropping your name sure did the trick, thanks a lot!

sorry to hear of your experience, beth. i contacted the bbb and after a HUGE tug of war, pm eventually showed a modicum of good faith by refunding $59 of the $99 membership. but that was ONLY because i stayed on their a*s and refused to let this go!!! otherwise i wouldn't have seen a dime. you have to go outside the company. by dealing with them direct, nothing is going to happen. i am not an unreasonable person but i didn't tell them to set up this service so that you can't even see the matches until you pay. and then they have to give me a hassle for MONTHS in getting a refund??? i don't have time to date now but i hope them change their policies or they are going to gain a very bad reputation. being that they are in a people business, you would think they could move effective deal with the public and their members. bad news travels far quicker than good news...good luck to you.

I too am a victim of perfectmatch.com ripoff

I too subcribed to a 3 month deal and much to my surprise nearly 2 months after it expired, my credit card was charged $99.90 for a 3 month renewal. This was after I had not received any emails from them for 2 months and they refused to give me my money back even though I contact them the same day the charge appeared on my account. They were uncooperative and told me when I signed up I agreed to an automatic renewal. My response of course is that 1st of all, when I signed up they never sent me any kind of confirmation that I would be auto renewed... all they sent is a welcome email, with no reference to membership terms or automatic renewal & what it would cost to do so. They offered to send me a copy of a screen shot that I should have remembered filling out 4 months ago that agreed to an auto renewal (like what does that prove... all they emailed me was a shot of a uncompleted screen from one of their web pages that also did not mention any costs or terms... why not provide me with the confirmation I completed showing that I had agreed to this phantom renewal!?) This is all irregardless of the fact that I had not received any communication from them in 2 months & no reminder of an autorenewal or even the fact that my membership had already expired months ago! What a joke. They are a ripoff and have no customer service to speak of. In fact, they don't even have phone support, you can only email them with your dispute. joke joke joke... now I am out $99.90 for a service that sucked & I hadn't used for months! They are truely a ripoff and out to get money for nothing. Do not use perfectmatch.com
