My wife and I purchase a used car from Brian Morris after driving 70 - 80 miles one way. We discussed the shape the car was in due to me traveling to buy the car. Brian said the car was mechanically sound and all was well. We purchase the car as is no warranty and drove the car home. The very next day the engine blew. My mechanic viewed the internal parts of the engine to find that the timing belt broke due to the water pump leaking and ALL the bearings and pulleys were rusted. He found that engine treatment sludge was added to the oil as well as radiator leak stop to seall the leaking water pump.

The dealer PERRY MORRIS MOTORS had changed the valve cover gaskets and had done repair to the car which Brian disclosed however, he did not state info about the adding of leak stop and oil treatment to sale the car. My mechanic said 100% they had to know about the rust and leak or they would not have added the leak stop etc... This caused the timing belt to break and ruin the engine. We called and spoke with Brian Morris and he cursed my mechanic using F-bombs and said for us to sue him that it was sold as is no warranty and for us to F-Off. BUYER BEWARE - do not buy a car from these liars. : ) PEACE

False and slanderous report

AUTHOR: Brian Morris - ()

POSTED: Friday, January 23, 2015

My name is Brian Morris. I am the person mentioned in the consumer complaint. Most of the information in the complaint is absolutely false and is meant only as an attempt to personally slander my name and our business. I never cursed, yelled, or told anyone to sue us. I had customers, my mom and my 5 year old niece in my office with me when I took the call. I DO NOT use that kind of language and have witnesses that can verify that did not occur during that phone call. The customer that posted this review has went on our facebook page and posted numerous false posts and making all sorts of allegations. Also, we DO NOT use additives to engine oil or coolant systems in our cars.

First to address the issue with the car. The consumer did call and we talked about the condition of the car. I described it as best as I could and let him know what repairs we had made to the car. I believed the car to be in good running condition and we had driven ourselves for about 150 miles and never had an issue with it. The customer came and drove it and agreed that it was acceptable and made the purchase.

The vehicle in question is a 17 year old car. We offer warranties on any car sold for $3,000 or more. This car was sold for less than that so it was sold as-is. The consumer was made aware of that and agreed to the purchase.

A couple days later I received a call from the customer saying he had an issue with the car. I told him I would speak with the owner and let him know if we could offer any help. Before I had an opportunity to do that, the mechanic called me. From the time I answered the phone the mechanic laid into me about our ethics and making accusations about us putting additives in the oil and coolant. He also informed me that the customer was taking pictures and planning on filing a lawsuit. I tried to speak with the mechanic but everytime I started to speak I got talked over. I finally told him if he wasn't going to let me speak I was hanging up and I did. I never spoke with the mechanic or customer again.

The customer likes to say the engine "blew" but in fact what I was told that happened was the timing belt broke. I have no way to know when a timing belt may break. That's like knowing when a light bulb is gonna blow.

We regret that this happened and would have liked to have handled this differently. When purchasing a cheap, older car these risks are always present. Most times these gambles can pay off, unfortunately this time things didn't work out. When lawsuits are threatened I feel our only option is to abide by the agreements that were signed at the time of purchase.

If anyone reading this has any questions I would be glad to talk with them and could give many references to our repeat customers who have done business with us many time over our forty plus year history. We have sold cars to multi generations of customers who would not buy anywhere else. Also this complaint was investigated by the BBB and they found no evidence of wrong doing on our part.
