I came to this website and contacted this "cat breeder" with an area code number from Maryland to buy a new kitten. They had a whole "new litter" of Persian cats, priced at only $500 to $550 each, with free shipping, vaccinations, and papers included. Plus, they said a second kitten would be free! It all sounded too good to be true.

It was.

After sending them my request and conteact information, I got an immediate response through e-mail. This was followed by a text message to ensure that I got the e-mail. I responded today to the e-mail, and got an emormously long e-mail explainning how much they loved their cats and how they bred them only as a hobby, and wanted to know our location and how we would love our new kitten. I responded back in good honesty and good faith, and got another six paragraph response within ten minutes. It was full of grammatical errors, and ambiguous wording about pricing. When I said that I was interested in meeting them in person and discussing the price of $550 further, I received no response.

I started to ask questions.

I searched cat breeder scams, and found that the site and response I received fell directly under their criteria. The cat breeder claimed on their website that they were CFA approved since 2001, and a search on their site showed negative results. Their website description also included that they bred cats at "Persian Garden Cattery," another cattery entirely. The site also features pictures on their homepage which a quick Google search found them to be Persian cat wallpapers. The site features "testimonials" with pictures of the cats and their new owners. None of the animals featured were kittens; all were cats. And at least two fo the photos were taken in the same room, with the same cat, but featured different people to appear different.

The final nail in the coffin was the web search that my father did. He checked the IP address of the site through Dig, an found the location of the site: Panama.

If you find a site with this description, then know for sure that this site is a scam. I didn't lose money because I checked them out. Be sure that you do, too.
