After prepaying for a nonexisting loan,I called to get my money back. I was told it would take 4-6 weeks. I went on line and it is illegal for businesses in the state of New York to demand any payments for loans that are not availble when the loan tractions are done over the phone.

I gave the company's rep that I dealt with until 12/14/2006 to give me my money back before I would file a complaint with the attorney general's office. I am also filing a complaint with Pa's attorney general since I live in Pa. I am thinking of going federal. On top of everything my money went to Canada,so who knows maybe Canada will be next.

Almost got scammed...until I read info here

AUTHOR: Amy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, April 23, 2007

I found these people a few days ago when I was searching for info on a loan for my husband and I and so I started asking questions. The response to my questions seemed legit but something still didn't feel right.

Thankfully my husband found the information on this site to save what money we do have right now! Here's the letter that I was sent in response to my questions. I am putting my questions to them first and then their response.

From us:
Message : Ok, we have received the email stating all of the lenders and the amounts that we would have to pay you to start the loan process. Our
questions are:
1. Does this mean that if we pay you the specified amount according to what we want our loan amount to be, we WILL without a doubt get the desired loan?
2. If we DO NOT get the loan amount that we want or if we get denied the loan all together, what does it mean that we would get a refund of the prorated amount?
3. How is this prorated amount decided?
4. How long does the loan process take?
5. How long, from the time you get our money, will it be that we have the loan money in our hands?
6. Is your service backed by BBB?
7. "...we need to know exactly WHY we should trust that this is a legitament company we are dealing with and what is going to happen if we pay you the desired amounts based on what loan amount we are seeking.

Thanks,

The response that we received:
We at Personal Credit Services, Inc. have been helping people get loans and lines of credit since 1998. Our service has been provided to literally THOUSANDS of clients. We are incorporated in the State of New York and we
are a member of the United States Chamber of Commerce.

If you apply to the lenders you will be approved for up to the amount you request or we will reimburse your fee based on the amount you are actually approved for collectively from the lenders. Further details are outlined in
the email you received. We have done our research, constantly updating our lender database and we are confident that we can help you. However, if a client is due a refund, we will send it to them right away. We are trying to
get information in people's hands so that they can be helped. We feel our business provides a service to many people.

Once we receive your payment, we will email you all the information promised immediately upon processing. The turnaround time is usually 24-48 hours maximum unless you order late on a Friday or there is a holiday in-between.

The fastest payment methods, in the order of fastest to slowest are as follows: credit or debit card (fastest), western union, money order or certified check, online check (7 business days) or personal check (15 days).

When it is received, the lenders should be contacted by telephone, if possible. Any lender listed that offers personal loans will be able to
respond within a very short period of time, usually the same day. As far as lines of credit are concerned, they may take longer.

Personal loan lenders are usually able to provide funding within a day or two. Lines of credit may take longer. They usually issue checks and the first payment is usually due 30 days after funds are received. If a lender requires any documentation from you, they will let you know. If you are interested in any special arrangements, you must work them out with the lender (s). The amounts listed for each lender are MAXIMUMS. Therefore, you can ask for a smaller amount if you wish. As you make monthly payments, the lenders will report your
payments to the credit bureaus.

For example, if you ask for $ 10,000.00 and pay us $ 175.00 but are only approved for $ 9,000.00, you would get a $ 25.00 refund because the referral fee for $ 9,000.00 is $ 150.00. The approval amount is the amount you are approved for from each lender combined, not just from one lender.

Unfortunately we are not a member of the Better Business Bureau, however we are a member of the United States Chamber of Commerce. Membership in the BBB is by invitation only and so far we have not been invited, probably because there are a lot of bad companies out there in our type of business and it ruins it for the rest of us. We, at Personal Credit Services, Inc., have
been helping people get loans and lines of credit for over 8 years by providing our service to literally THOUSANDS of clients. If you apply to the lenders you will be approved for up to the amount you request or we will reimburse your fee based on the amount you are actually approved for collectively from the lenders. Further details are outlined on the email you
received.

Sincerely,

Rick Dennison

I just thought that I would throw this bit of info out there in hopes of helping others stay away from these people as well.

Thanks and good luck - Amy

I almost got hacked too

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, April 13, 2007

I went on the BBB and say that no issues had been resloved. I then Checked with the State of NY and they were NOT listed. I sent them an email sayign their company was a scam. They replied quicker than any "company" ever has:

Let us explain the refund policy. We do not take the fee "out of the loan"
as some people would like, because you will get any monies you are approved
for directly from a lender and not from us. So, how does Personal Credit
get paid? Only by our loyal customers.

It is not legal to "charge a fee upfront for a loan". Personal Credit does
not give loans. We provide information and charge a fee for that
information. The lenders we refer give loans and/or lines of credit. They
are not allowed to charge a fee upfront in order to give you a loan.

We at Personal Credit Services, Inc. have been helping people get loans and
lines of credit since 1998. Our service has been provided to literally

So I then asked to explain the unresolved issues:

We have had several complaints out of thousands of customers per year.

The BBB only reports complaints and never reports anything positive. It appears to us that some companies pay them money and regardless of the amount of complaints, the BBB says they have a satisfactory record. We have seen other companies that are members with an EXTREME amount of complaints, but the BBB says they are satisfactory, but our company is unsatisfactory with only several complaints out of thousands of clients every year. We will not be blackmailed and refuse to participate in the BBB "scam". We no longer have any use for the BBB and will not respond to them.

We at Personal Credit Services, Inc. have been helping people get loans and lines of credit since 1998. Our service has been provided to literally THOUSANDS of clients. We are incorporated in the State of New York and we are a member of the United States Chamber of Commerce.

If you apply to the lenders you will be approved for up to the amount you request or we will reimburse your fee based on the amount you are actually approved for collectively from the lenders. Further details are outlined on form 1680 (the email you received). We have done our research, constantly updating our lender database and we are confident that we can help you. However, if a client is due a refund, we will send it to them right away. We are trying to get information in people's hands so that they can be helped. We hope this has answered your question.

Thank you for choosing Personal Credit Services

Sincerely,

Rick Dennison

Well I DIDN'T choose you, Rick. YOU'RE A SCAMMER.

This is in hope people can finally stop the scammers. People are suffering with bad credit and need REAL help. The government should have programs to help those people.

I AGREE DAVE

AUTHOR: Ashlee - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, February 24, 2007

I 100% agree w/ you Dave. Unfortunately I was taken for 1,830.00$ by an advance fee loan scam, and I have filed 9 different complaints w/ different goverment entities and all I get back is an email conformation saying they recieved my complaint and a complaint #. The BBB has kept in touch with me though but they are not doing much either. This needs to be stopped.

I am so glad that I came to this website before I decided to apply for their so called loan. I was just getting ready to send them some money when something told me to come to this website to see if they have been reported. Thank GOD I did not do it! I am so sorry for everyone that was ripped-off. They feed of off people that are in need and they need to be brought to justice!

Unfortunately, you're just wasting your time

AUTHOR: Dave - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, December 14, 2006

This is not a real business. There's nobody to report to the authorities. This advance-fee loan scam has been going on for sometime, and a lot of people are getting taken to the cleaners.

You can report them all you want, but nothing will come of it. Personally, I don't see why the feds can't set up a sting operation, in conjunction with the Canadian authorities, to catch these people. It would be simple. Have someone pose as a person needing a loan. Then, when they are asked to send money to Canada, get Western Union to flag the transaction, so the cops can be waiting there when the scammers come to collect the money.
