My fiancee and I were recently hired at this company 11/27/06, we were forced to sign a contract stating that if we dont complete 90 days of employment, we dont ever get paid for the very 1st week of training, being that they are *honing our internet research skills* and "teaching us a craft", teaching us? thats why we sat there the whole week and did nothing but test/example questions to search for, and got all positive feedback, but after we left Friday they had another agent send us an email saying that our overall performance didnt meet their requirements and we were fired. One of the reasons i was given for being fired was that I researched ONE question incorrectly, well, i thought i was IN TRAINING, getting my skills HONED....so why was I fired for it? They said we had poor attitudes, no we didnt, the chat logs showing "poor attitudes" were faked, and the other employees lied to them about us, to intentionally get us fired.
These people use pay sites like Hoovers.com and PublicData.com which they pay for, and conduct things like criminal background searches on ANYONE for their paying customers. basically, reselling the service. They used to boast themselves as *AskGod.com*, you can call them with someones license plate number and theyll hop on public data, punch it in, and give you and address, name, birthdate...everything.
They told us to NOT EVER TELL that they use these 2 sites, amongst others, because reselling the service wasnt a good thing.
yea well, they fired us for NO GOOD REASON...and are refusing to pay us due to that contract we were FORCED to sign, a whole week we both worked, and arent getting paid.
I post this to warn people..dont use their service...dont work for them...dont have any dealings with them if you can help it.
I am welcome to any lawyer response I can get to the matter of getting rightfully paid for the time I worked

#2 UPDATE Employee
my story
AUTHOR: Bryan C - (U.S.A.)

Although I cannot prove wrong what others have documented I will share my personal story of my involvement with Maestro. I have read all the individual reports regarding Maestro and must say, in over a year of my involvment with Maestro I have not had any negative experiences. Past employees claim to have not recieved their wages wich they are entitled too, and some how Adam and KFIR Alfia seem to take excellent care of everyone associated with the organization to the best of my knowledge, as they have me. So what make my statements credible? I have an office for over a year now, worn almost every hat there is to wear with maestro, and work every day... I have earned little money with the organization but often find the owners, especially Adam, often giving me extra UNEARNED money (bonuses), and helping to keep my head held high. My response to the all of the following complaints and slander towards this organization, is that what you personally experienced is part of the roughest toughest game called "entrepreneurship". People fail, it's very difficult, tension and pressure is high, stress is prevelent like you have never experienced, and money is harder to rightfully earn than you ever expected... If anything Its difficult for the owners to relate and help individuals who think their personal skills are much greater than they actually are, when they both are far superior in intellegence and ambition. Every relationship, employer to employee, father to son, husband to wife is a two way street and takes cooperation and effort from all invovled. Adam and Kfir ARE entrepreneurs, well developed leaders, and mentors to many around the office. The pure and simple act of Adam to help me in my personal and professional life to the extent he has done is a prime example of this. Adam and Kfir both have personally helped me with graduate assignments late in the wee hours AND during office hours with real world application and have even allowed me the opportunity to make money from homework and projects!!! The company is thriving like never before, due to the correct chemistry (the most difficult thing in for any org) and every day excitment resinates with EVERY employee. It's unfortunate to hear the things people have to say regarding this organization when my personal experience has been so insightful and rich. READ WHAT YOU SIGN and if you disagree... argue and negotiate LOL

There have been 2 previous reports filed against this company. The first was by myself, regarding me and my, then fiancee. The second was dated 2/10/2008 by someone named Andrea who was hired after us.
I wanted to post another report, especially after having seen hers, to let everyone know that we did get paid the money that we had a legal right to via the Texas Workforce Commission. It took about 8 months to get it, but justice was finally had!
The part in the report done by Andrea, wherein she stated that "the other two people" which was us, were just contractors and therefore weren't entitled to the pay was incorrect. The rest of her report was very factual and in line with what happened to us though. If she had been correct, we would never have gotten paid.
What made us an exception to the rule about contractors and not having to pay them for training are as follows:
Independent Contractor
Contractor asserts he is self-employed and generally maintains his own client list or customer base
Contractor is usually hired locally where the alleged employer performs the overall project
Contractor performs a service the alleged employer is not qualified or able to supply
Work is generally performed at client's site and/or contractor's office/home
Tools and equipment are furnished by contractor or client
Supplies are furnished by contractor without reimbursement from alleged employer
Contractor is highly skilled and requires no training or supervision
Alleged employer and client are interested only in the outcome of the work, not in the details of how the work is done
Contractor has some voice in determining the hours of performing the work
Work is not on a continuous basis, but rather on a job to job basis
Pay is generally by the job and is negotiated with the contractor
Contractor invoices the alleged employer for work performed
Payment is to the company or DBA of the contractor
Contractor has the right to hire assistants and to pay them out of his own pocket
Contractor is not reimbursed by the alleged employer for expenses
Contractor is not covered by the alleged employer's benefit plan
Contractor maintains his own errors and omissions liability insurance
Contractor is not required by the alleged employer to submit performance, cost, or progress reports other than invoices or perhaps work or progress reports verified and signed by the employer's clients
Basically, it has stated that to be a contracted employee (independent contractor) you set your own hours, and you do not need to be trained. They had a set schedule for us, and put us through training. By all definition, we won because they obviously were not clear on what a defined contracted employee was.
Anyway, I just wanted to say that I am glad that justice was had, and I hope to god that no one ever has to go through what we did with these people.
