our little family decided to add a pet to our home. We shopped around for a few weeks before falling in love with a yokiepoo at Petland of Naperville. We noticed that the puppy had some coughing. We asked several people if the puppy was sick because the cough did not sound normal. One if the employees by the name of Mckenzie took the puppy to the back of the store and later came back and explained that the puppy had had an upper respiratory infection but that the puppy had been "cleared" by one of their participating vets. She assured me that the puppy was in healthy and good conditions to take home. We took her words and decided to purchase they puppy. Sunday afternoon we took him home

he was active and exploring the house but still had the cough I didn't think much of it because the store had assured me that the puppy was in healthy conditions. Sunday night his cough got worse he keep making strange sounds as if he was choking or as if he needed to throw up. We keep waking up every couple of hours to make sure he was ok and offered him food and water through the night. Tuesday morning he used the potty outside, was able to eat and drink but again the caugh kept getting worse. Tuesday afternoon we decided to take him to the vet because he was staring to throw up mucus like vomit as well foamy white saliva. The vet confirmed that the puppy had an upper respiratory infection

(kakine cough) we were given an antibiotic and cough tablets. The meds didn't help much, the cough seemed more painful for the poor puppy, breathing seemed painful for him too. Tuesday night the puppy looked worse and very sick I called the stored and again I was assured it was "a normal thing for puppies to have" and I was assured he would be able to recover. I called Pawsitive Solutions but the office was closed. I took the puppy back to the stored and was greated by a rude and unemotional manager. At first she said she wouldn't be able to take the puppy back without an approval from Pawsitive Solutions then she said she would call the owner and left for couple of mins came back and said she would be

able to accept the puppy but that I would be responsible for a $400 return policy. At the time I wasn't sure if I wanted to return the puppy or keep him. I had already become attached to the puppy I cried for hours. Last night after we got home from the store we noticed that the puppy was still very sick. He wasn't himself he didn't want to eat, he didn't want to walk his eyes were glossy, his throat was dry he kept making sounds as if he was in severe pain. We felt awful for the poor puppy and so we decided to take him to the Vet clinic in Countryside, IL at 12:15AM. After being examined by the ER Vet she was able to confirm that the poor puppy has pneumonia. The puppy was admitted and stayed

overnight at the hospital. When we decided to purchase a puppy we did it thinking he/she would bring joy and happiness to our family. We had made a decision to be fully committed to train, love and care for a new member of our family, but the purchase of this puppy at Petland has been a horrible horrible experience!!! They sold us a puppy knowing he was sick and pretty much lied to our face saying he had been cleared to go home and that nothing was wrong with him when it was obvious that he was not. We have spendt the last couple of days worried, said and disappointed. We have not slept for two days caring for this very sick puppy. The least we expect is for the owner of Petland and Pawsitive Solutions

to resolve this matter. Also, I never received by finance contract or paperwork. First I was promised it would be sent via email then mail. Any who this place is cruel and unfit !!!

We are sorry to hear the puppy was not feeling well when you took it home.  To clarify, we have our consulting veterinarian at the store weekly to advise and treat any puppies that need attention.  We also make a special trip weekly to our veterinarian's office to make sure that any puppy in need is seen twice weekly by our veterinarian.  Your Yorkiepoo was cleared as healthy and made available for sale only after the veterinarian gave approval.  Now, this is the difficult part, whenever the enviornment changes for a small puppy, especially one as small as a Yorkiepoo, it creates stress.  With stress immunities are not as strong and sometimes a puppy will get sick after traveling in a vehicle and being placed in a new home.  Sometimes a new owner will play with a puppy too much and not let it rest further causing stress to the puppy.

Fortunately, we recognize how stress occurs at Petland Naperville and advise every customer of this.  We also pay 100% for all medical care necessary for the fist 30 days after taking a puppy home for a viral related illness.  As in this case, we were paying 100% for all medical care to treat this Yorkiepoo.  The customer came into the store demanding a refund and we advised we would provide this refund but attempted to explain again how a puppies sickness can be due to the change in enviornments and that it would get better given a little time.  The customer was all about the money and when reminded of our return fee refused to proceed.  We have a return fee as it was discovered people would purchase a puppy and return it a couple days later after the kids were done playing or because people would make an impulse purchase and after getting the puppy home decide that taking care of a puppy was too much for them.  We explain our return policy up front to the customer and in this case, the customer signed twice acknowledging our return policy and that she understood the return fee would apply if she chose to return the puppy.

The customer did come back to the store the next day after agreeing to the return fee with our warranty company and we proceeded to process the return, as seen in the picture provided by the customer.  The customer was toxic and called the police and had them come to the store in hopes of forcing us to waive our return fee.  The police left as soon as arriving recognizing this was a frivolous waste of their time.  We did accept back all merchandise including used merchandise and the surrender of the puppy with a full refund less the return fee.  The customer was a bully and in the end we were glad to see them go.  We have accepted responsibility for the puppy and will provide for all of its care and finding it a true loving home home where it will not be discarded again.
