Don't invest in PGW's parts and labor plan. It pays for nothing. Last week my water heater broke down and had to be replaced. The parts and labor plan gave me nothing.
20 years ago the plan replaced a broken heater, but things have changed and the cost is the same. The plan might pay for a washer here, a bolt there, but in reality, nothing. The PGW inspector admitted as much, and I suspect he had received many complaints. He explanation was diffuse--- PGW was the subject of lawsuits, etc. Why was this my problem?
The alarming news is that my house heater was similarly uncovered. Rather than pay PGW for a useless product, buy a bucket immersion heater from Amazon for $50 and use a large plastic bucket. You'll avoid those icy showers when your heater breaks down. I received no info from PGW about the changes in the plan, but, hey, what's fine print for?
