I was hired on with the Philo Comapany over 2 months ago. I left a good company based on the promises that were made by The Philo project manager. He recruited me out of the Seattle Times classified Ads. As I began my employ with Philo, I was put on a job as a lead for a fire restoration project in Edmonds, WA. The homeowner rolled her eyes everytime I brought up the project manager (Dave Beckman) and the timeframe of this project. The fire happened over 1 year ago, and i just took pictures 2 days ago and it still isn't completed. In fact nothing has been done since i left 2 weeks ago.
I have never seen a company more prooly managed in my entire life. I worked on several other projects this company had sold and they were all the same. They employ cheap labor and with that obviously came dumb employees. I guess you could say you get what you pay for.
Anyway, the pay was ok, but after I put in my notice and recieved my final pay. I found i was shorted almost $500.00 for tool rental on tools for Philos job. I was an employee and these dumbheads think I should pay thier rental bill. They also tried to charge me for tools that they purchased and tried to sell me. And to top that off, they owe me for 4 hours at time and a half for over 2 months ago.
These dumb people have no idea. Now I have to spend my time and money to put labor liens on every project I worked on. PHILO SUCKS I Hate Philo

I was Goggle for a contractor in the Seattle area and found Philo who did work for a close friend of mine and few years ago and loved them. I was ready down the list and found you statement and was a little perplex at what you wrote and wanted to respond.
It was good to know that you statements of the project was bases on lack of knowledge on how the insurance industry, homeowners working the system and the contractor to get things done. It has been several years since you work at Philo company and since that time Washington State has passed a law protecting homeowner to their right to have their homes repaired to it original state. When you see a home that has been involved in a fire that happen over a year ago it doesn't always mean the contractor isn't doing their job. It involves more then that. It could that the city won't issue a permit because the repairs will not bring it to code and the homeowners do not have code upgrade in the policy. It could be that you have exceeded the coverage of your policy or the insurance company will not approve the estimate. Some homeowners have to hire a lawyer to fight the case and a good contractor will know when their client doesn't have the money to pay for it and a final approval is received in writing before the job start. Once they have been hired by the client you they will want to make sure that at the end the homeowner are not looking at a bill they were not excepting.
I was surprise to read this statement They employ cheap labor and with that obviously came dumb employees. I guess you could say you get what you pay for when in fact you were talking about yourself.
It is very import no matter what age or what job that you have a clear understanding what is in your employee package. Don't sign the document that you have read and understand the contents. Do they have a reimbursement program for tools, mileage, holiday, medical and vacation? It is up to you to fight and get what you are worth.
My last question would be how does an employee file a lien against the job. Were you license and bounded? Did you give the homeowner a Discloser to Lien, which is the law or you can not file a lien.
Don't get me wrong. You are entitled to your option, but when you are slandering a company that has been in business for over 20 years, paint a complete picture. It is import for every homeowner to check out a contractor before hire them, but in this case you sound more like an unhappy past employee and hate is a strong work.
